www.collegefootballnews.com has their update today on Arizona State. The season will be a success if ... ASU finishes second in the Pac 10 and/or splits with LSU and USC. USC is a juggernaut and there are several tough road games making a conference title tough, but second is very attainable. It'll help the overall profile of the program to beat a team like LSU or USC along the way. A win in Death Valley would do wonders for the conference. The press has been saying this is ASU's year for three years now. That said, never under-estimate a passing team early in the season. We did last year... all they needed was a little confidence early in the game... and we obliged.
ASU should be a very good test of our defense early on. However, we should have the offense to put up more than enough points. I'm looking forward to the game to see what Pellini can do with our defense and think it will be a great indicator for what we can expect from him.
Yes, we lost control of our game down there very early on... with fumbles and three and outs. We gave them way too many touches, their QB hit a rythum and it was all she wrote. I don't see that happening, especially with you guys at home. ASU has shown the propensity to not handle adversity well... if you jump out on them, I bet they fold.
I look for LSU to do 2 things against ASU.. they will run the ball for 300+ yards... and they will run a heavy zone defense all night, allowing them to get lots of coverage sacks and frustrate the quarterback in to throwing several picks...
I aggree, Miles will use ball control and not let the first game get out of hand like last years. A heavy dose of Broussard and Addai should keep us in good shape. :thumb:
The good thing is Arizona St. is our second game of the season so we won't have to deal with the first game mistakes and the coaching staff will get a feel for the team. With that said this will be one tough game that I think LSU will win, but could be very close. Arizona St. is not going to be any kind of push over thats for sure. :geauxtige
