Is it really fair for you to tell us to chill out? You probably posted this message whilst sharing a bed with two hot chicks and a bottle of champagne being chilled at bedside along with three crystal glasses. If we were in your situation, we could probably find it very easy to chill out. Regardless, we are happy to have you with us on our happy little board. :thumb:
That is a legal play. A player can place his hand or the ball on the ground without being ruled down. And if the ball comes loose as it touches the ground, it would be a fumble. That is the only time the ground can cause a fumble in college football. Similar play happened in the 4th quarter of the '03 Florida game and the ref ruled the player down. An LSU player picked up the fumble. Saban said after the game that the refs blew the call.
I'm pretty sure you're right on there. While not 100% sure, I think the only way a play is over is for the PLAYER to be down. His knee or some other part of body must be on the ground to be down. That being said, this group of officials is probably the worst in the conference. I may be wrong, but I think it was this bunch that officiated the Tenn. game and one other and in each LSU had more penalties in those and they called more penalties (and missed more) on both teams than in any other games.
I wish people would stop bitching about officiating. You guys all act like LSU has never gotten some no calls. Hell, I saw at least 2 pass interferences right in front of the refs that they didn't call on us. Yes, arkansas got away with some stuff but so did we, if the refs started calling every thing the game would never finish because you can call something on just about every play.
Years and years of losing has turned some LSU fans into whiny sissy babies. No big deal, just makes a lot of the whining and moaning even in the best of times a bit more understandable.
