If Russell is hurt (throwing arm injury) and Flynn sees significant playing time this week, how would that affect LSU? A more mobile Flynn would give the AU defense some additional problems, no doubt Flynn would run for a few first downs. The question is ... can Flynn execute well and avoid those killing multiple turnovers at the QB position and still put points on the board. In 5 games, JR has 7 TD passes against 4 picks meaning LSU scoring comes on the ground. Good coaching should sideline an injured player not performing and put in a solid backup like Flynn who can get the job done.

The first significant pass thrown by Russell should tell if he really is injured.

Flynn would still have to endure the things that green quarterbacks go through. Learning to read defenses, getting the timing with his receivers, and developing some poise. Flynn will not hit the ground running and look like a seasoned quarterback. He would have an adjustment period. LSU would be affected.

Of course JR is going to say "its nothing"... but I always have to question an injury to a qb's throwing hand... that slight weakness in grip or spin that comes from the slightest twinge in the throwing hand can make a difference in the timing of a throw...

He is NOT that bad and the injury has improved tremendously. Don't expect much of Flynn unless Russell is injured during the game and can't play....

Matt Flynn will get his opportunity as we want to maintain Perrilleaux's redshirt but stranger things have happened if Flynn doesn't do the job!
