Hard work with a good coach? Carson Palmer was considered pretty much a bust going into his Senior season and finally got it all together and became the #1 overall pick. It's not crazy talk.
Y'all have probably seen the big cat from yesterday's practice. Here is another angle. Scott Long took it. At the 3:23 mark, it cuts to Cam working with the green shirts. I had not seen any of that til now. Nice to see.
We know he has the physical tools, it's the mental aspect of the game that eludes him at times. A proven QB coach like Cam teaching him how to run a coherent, effective system could be the last piece of the puzzle.
Like overthrowing about 10 tds last year, those physical tools? wasnt Krags doing that at some point as well?
Look at the QB's taken last year and the ones being taken this year. With the NFL Draft, it only takes one team. You see it every year. Tyson Jackson was the third player taken in the 2009 Draft. Not saying it will happen, but I wouldn't bet against it. Look at the teams looking for QB this year, I count no less than 10 teams needing a QB this year, many of them, this is their first need. Look at last year, a punter taken in the third round? A reach maybe. You just never know. Cam knows what hes doing. How about a Red-Shirt Freshman winning the Heisman, after his first taste of the SEC? What are the odds? I was talking with a Draft guy about this same question, his reply, "Way too early to tell, he has the physical tools, but how will he respond, and become more consistent, he has a chance." I too will be keeping an eye on how this one plays out. Best of luck to all the Tigers this year.
I said "could". He's shown flashes, so did Jefferson. I don't know what Mett's ceiling is, but he has a far better chance of realizing his potential now than he did 2 months ago.
