Ok Folks, some of the first NFL Draft books are out. USA Today has it's last page on the 2014 Draft. They have Freak as next years top 20 pick (#19) and Mett in the first round at #32. In the second round, they also have Craig Loston. To add, they show 6 QB's in the first round...like I've been saying, too many teams have a need at that position. Not a great class of QB's this year. The write-up on Mett: On Freak:
I think the only unknown is between Mett's ears (not talking facial hair). He's got all of the physical tools as we got to see at times last year. We'll have one of the best running attacks with our big OL and stable of backs. Mett has both of his top targets coming back and I think both Landry and Beckham could have HUGE years (+1,000 yds for both?). Having a hot route to throw quick when good SEC teams throw blitzes at him should avoid getting off schedule like we experienced some last year.
You really hit on something about the O-line. How good they are will greatly affect how good Mett is. This is the biggest O-line I remember seeing here in quite some time...is there even ONE below 305? If they can move like people say they can, Mett should have plenty of time. And when he's had time, he's found receivers. Stud moving exclusively to the O-line may be the best part of the Cameron hire, and better line play ALONE will improve Mett's game. I think that even a decent year gets him drafted in the first couple of rounds.
