Sorry took so long to get back with y'all as I was returning home from Lufkin, but I didn't really mean that he played well in UF, I know that's how I worded it, but I just meant that is was good that he had that sort of experience. I really think Ryan will be a phenom before it's said and done, but AS OF RIGHT NOW, JR is the man, no doubt. I really wouldn't care if they put Chris Jackson in as QB, provided he gives us the best shot at that position... With having said that, I think Matt Flynn will be out to prove some people wrong as well, but RP is physically a better specimen than Matt Flynn and his physical skills are far and beyond that of Flynn. So what, we may need a Flynn style player a la Matt Mauck in '03..
Tell him to watch the game just like you and wait to see the results, souinds like you need a little convincing too. I know I do.
Russell was a green freshman last year who had to split time with a senior starter. He did not set the world on fire, but few freshmen do. He did get better as the season progressed and had an excellent bowl game. Russell wasn't all that bad. LSU was two last plays from an 11-1 record last year and neither of those plays involved the QB. JR is in his third year in Jimbo's offense and has a years experience under his belt. He will be a sophomore starter on a team that is a championship contender. Anybody that expects the green freshman of 2004 to return is likely to be disappointed. Now, that doesn't mean that Perrilloux couldn't take the job away from Russell. I haven't seen him play. But he won't do it by talkin' about it.
