How did this baseball program fall this quickly?

Trying to figure this out statistically is futile. Kinda like someone telling you statistically Les ran a potent offense. Stats really do lie. If you're a fan of the sport you know everything you need to know.

If you're just looking to demonize or exonerate then that's a fools game. Cpm is a top coach who often has less than power arms in the pen. Great success in the sec tourney and average success in Omaha.

Based on numbers, overall success in omaha and elsewhere is top 5 in the country, so that’s average only in comparison to skip. That’s still second/third is in the conference, which is where the Miles comparison holds water. But CPM isn’t really trending down so I’m inclined to give him more of a break after looking at rough numbers relative to everyone else. SECT success is lagniappe in his favor.

Let it rest. Watch the postseason and try to enjoy Oregon states revenge.

For somebody who says he doesn't give a shit about baseball you sure spend a lot if time and effort on it.

Only because we’re winning and it’s slow (and I’ve got a touch of ocd). I got into our run to the NC game last year; watched some of the SECT this year - Peterson’s double was pretty awesome.

I’ve been bitching about Maineri not living up to expectations but I was basing it on what Skip accomplished. After further analysis, I’m pretty satisfied with a top 5 program.

If I cared more I’d probably be more critical like @tirk. Relinquishing the top spot kinda sucks, but that happened when Smokie bear was hired. Kinda looks like Maineri is keeping us around contender status.

The inconsistency during the year then turning it on for postseason is interesting; if we can make a good showing at OGeron St, I’d be pretty satisfied W or L. A win would be pretty remarkable.

Seems like the smart money, but gutting the Beavers again would be pretty sweet. Not even sure we can hit SDSU though.

Q: How do you know when you are near Oregon State’s campus?
A: When you honk your horn, all the sheep back up to the fence.
