1. I would call it a very good program, not decent. 10 straight NCAA appearances and 2 final fours is pretty strong by any standards.

And you're right about some fans saying Brown couldn't coach, but they showed up and supported the program until he ruined it his last few years. We averaged about 12,500 in paid attendance during the 80s.

Brady's best attendance year would be 18th on Brown's list...
  2. Don't sweat it, bud. I should've put some :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: after the message.
I just thought the word "prohibation" was funny. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
  3. Speaking about attendance... how many games did Dale have on TV back then????? You had the SEC Game of the week on Saturday's and maybe if I remember right only one game on during the week in the SEC. Today I looked and we have 4 of the 6 games on TV. There might be more but I am too lazy to look. During the week we have the ESPN game on Tuesday and JP games on Wednesday nights. Also, you can watch up to 20 games a night on cable if you want to.. not to mention Desperate Housewives comes on one of those nights.

That being said, you had to show up to watch the team. Who wants to fight traffic on a Wednesday night to watch us play South Carolina when you can watch it or another game on the tube.

I get back to we had bandwagon fans back then and things remain the same except they have much more choices for entertainment now. (and that includes the students too)
  4. its a legit question and its so stupid your dumb ass responded to it multiple times. you are a chump!
  5. I stand by my attachment.
  6. Oh, I agree with you guys on a lot of stuff. There were a lot of people that didn't think (and still don't think) Brown could coach, but they weren't as hostile toward him. I guess they couldn't be since nobody even cared before he got there.

I don't really feel my memories are fading with time. I just think a lot of people just forgot because it's been so long. I remember being young and seeing on television students camping out on the PMAC ramps in order to get into the huge games. I recall a lot of games being on CBS and ESPN. You look at attendance records from those years and LSU was from #10 - #20 for national average attendance for the majority of those years. They were always at least in the top 25 in attendance except maybe just one year. When you consider how many basketball teams there are in Div.I, those top 25 teams who are usually ranked and get big crowds are the great overall programs. Like I said, LSU was more just a good (not great) team for most of those years with a great total package as far as everything that's involved. But it's subjective...

I take from back then this quote from a guy who can work on anyone's nerves :

"You don't get the feel for college basketball at other places the way you do at the Deaf Dome.."
    -Dick Vitale - ESPN/ABC Commentator

Like him or not, Dick Vitale is one of the biggest recognizable characters when it comes to college basketball. I think that quote says it all about those years.

But yeah, I do still agree that we have bandwagon basketball fans. But our basketball fans were much better then because even though a bunch would say Brown couldn't coach, a lot of them still went to the games with excitement.

Oh well, Brady is going for 10 SEC wins in a row at home today. That's an impressive streak I must say (if he can pull it out). I'm thinking we may break the thousand mark for actual attendance.
  7. wonder if any of the attendance has to do with the success of football? probably not, but the years when both have been good are few. last year, and the arnsparger years.
  8. is that all you do is try and run down anyone who might say something about a coach. dude why dont you go argue some more with LSU NEWS thats the only time you dont get stomped chump.
    you are your attachment.
  9. He'll be back unless he has a losing SEC record. Anything short of that, and he's here to stay.
