Yep, Gerry D was a breath of fresh air 95-97. I remember people wanting him to spell his last name Dinardeaux.

yeah, a 2001 sugar bowl means his recruiting class must have been pretty damn good right? he made some bad choices, but he put lsu back on the map. remember that time we beat florida? for every lost to ole miss when we were favored by 13, there's a florida victory and a bowl win versus notre dame.

    GEAUX DINARDEAUX!

Heard on the radio today that he's supposed to be here for the game Saturday as part of ESPN's crew. If that's true, I hope the LSU faithful treat him well.

no ****. he gave a few years of his life for LSU and worked his ass off. he may have had a bad outcome towards the end, but he helped turn us around. if anyone wanted to win it was him and if anyone takes a shot at him, I'll personally punch them in the stomach.... tepper jokes are okay though :-D

i always liked dinardo, could have updraded his defense. we all make mistakes, it would be tough to have my job judged by 92,000 fans severy saturday night and south louisiana the rest of the time. it takes something special to be a coach.

I wanted Dinardo to do well. He stubbornly refused to dump Tepper and that was his downfall. We had many good Saturday nights during Dinardo's years. The Tepper years, however, were pure misery. Every game was like last week's except ASU is a decent team. The Ole Misses and Kentuckys of the world were not.

Hey man that was one the best times of my life. Me and a couple of friends (one who by the way had to sneak out of his parents home) camped out for tickets to that Indy Bowl as well. We did the same thing rotating people in line and playing football in TS. Independence Bowl Stadium is easily the coldest place I have been in my entire life. My feet still haven't thawed out.
    Good Times, true.

GD definitely turned our program around. But at the end of his tenure he seemed to focus too much on other stuff off the field. He was busy with TV Commercials and his restaurant in Baton Rouge. Not sure if it's still there or not. So, I think he was not too focused at the end and team did not do well.

That's the fundamental difference between him and Saban. NS was 100% focused on football and nothing else.

Dinardo's is not there anymore. Well the building is still there, but it's something else now. Don't remember the name...Raffino's or something maybe...

Never ate at his place, but I heard it was good back in the day...
