5 commits already, 2 or 3 grey shirts. I guess around 12 or so left, right?

Look for a couple of guys to transfer opening up a couple more. When it's all said and done I look for Saban to sign around 20-21 players.

We might also have a couple juniors leave early. Whitworth has the talent to go early. Lot depends on what kind of season he has. Might open another spot or two.

Don't forget that we might get another 1-2 JUCOs. They would be the creme de la creme though.

Transfers will be interesting. How many guys will buy into the team sport theory and try to be part of a NC team, and how many want that immediate PT. I'm sure Saban gives that talk during recruiting time, and Randall is a perfect example of that type of team player.

Not sure how many will transfer out but....

here is a list of the seniors on the roster.

    1. Shyrone Carey RB 5-6 198 Sr. 2L
    2. Ronnie Prude CB 5-11 176 Sr. 2L
    3. Marcus Randall QB 6-2 223 Sr. 2L
    4. Corey Webster CB 6-0 201 Sr. 3L
    5. Steve Mares WR 5-7 165 Sr. SQ
    6. Greg Hercules SS 6-1 195 Sr. SQ
    7. Travis Daniels CB 6-1 187 Sr. 1L
    8. Dorsett Buckels LB 5-11 221 Sr. 2L
    9. Jarvus Ryes DE 6-3 257 Sr. SQ
    10. Ben Wilkerson C 6-4 296 Sr. 3L
    11. Lionel Turner LB 6-2 257 Sr. 2L
    12. Harold Bicknell OT 6-6 270 Sr. SQ
    13. Marcus Spears DE 6-4 297 Sr. 3L
    14. Demetri Robinson TE 6-3 251 Sr. 2L

If no one transfers out after next season, which is highly unlikely, then we would only have 14 spots open for next year. Saying that, I think we had only about 17 seniors on last years roster also and we will have the maximum of 25 enroll next fall I think. And of course we will probably have a junior or 2 and maybe even a soph decide they need the bucks of the NFL. But right now if only the seniors left we would have about 4 or 5 grants left to give at most.

Somebody always flunks out. Somebody always quits football. Somebody always gets shown the door by the coach. If necessary, the coach can grayshirt a couple of players or even withdraw a scholarship from somebody who isn't cutting it.

Also, there will be transfers after spring practice, especially at positions where we are deep. We were overloaded at QB last year and 3 quarterbacks left. Talented players will go elsewhere if they can't find playing time. One of the side-effects of having several outstanding recruiting years is you get a logjam at some positions.

Nick will sign at least 20 this year, but he will have to keep an eye on the 85-scholarship limit. Nick has oversigned every year he has been here to compensate for attrition and it has worked out pretty well. That's why we pay him the big dollars. He has a feel for his attrition rate and signs accordingly.
