I just don't think that they have played against a rushing offense that is as good as ours. If Clemson can put up 180 yards on the ground against them, we can grind out 250+. Plus, I think that their run defense has decent numbers because teams are too busy throwing the ball up and down the field on them. Our offense probably won't throw the ball up and down the field on them because our passing offense has been so bad. We should put the game in the hands of Ridley, Ford and the o-line and grind out a good old fashioned SEC victory (19-17 LSU wins). Stick with the strength of our weakest link.
I just don't see it. Auburn's numbers against the run are good, but I think they are also skewed. They haven't played a comparable rushing team, unless you count MSU, and they made up a lot of ground against Arkansas St. and ULM, giving up only 81 yards rushing combined in those two games.
If your running game is 40 to 50% better with JL in as QB and your passing game is a hell of a lot better........................then I think I forgot the frigging question............. punt on first downs....hold for three and outs.......pray they punt to PP:thumb:
Take out Arkansas St. and ULM, and that goes up to 3.8. Meanwhile, we are averaging 4.8. To be fair, I guess I should drop McNeese, so 4.66. That says to me we should, and probably will, average closer to 4ypc, or more, than 3ypc.
Not with JJ in the game, however. Auburn will be smart and will be committed to the run defense. Even with Lee in there, I think they still will be aggressive and sacrifice a few pass plays along the way. That's the way I would do it if I were a DC. I would show very little respect to the LSU passing game.
