My point was that we had a home loss & were lucky to play for it - not that we weren't the best team in the country that year. Whether I think Miles will be that lucky is irrelevent. We will find out in the years to come. It has been. I would say it depends on the situation, but probably more of a hands-off philosophy. He helps game plan, helps players learn during practice etc, but he mostly lets the coordinators do their job.
Well, surely if Miles is gonna have more success than Saban he will have at least one NC, huh? Yep. And how we got totally outprepared by UGA is a mystery to me. Maybe they finally ran out of gas, I don't know. I hate that philosophy.
Maybe. Success isn't measured only in NCs. Winning percentage & SEC Championships go pretty far. Even Spurrier only had 1 NC. You're telling me. Reminded me of last year when Georgia drummed us under a different coach. Different strokes for different folks. I don't care what his philosophy is. I care about winning. He's doing that.
Well, since you expect Miles to have more success than Saban, he is for sure gonna have more than 48 wins and 2 SEC titles to begin with in his first 5 years, huh? What is your definition of success? Yep, they got it taken to them last year. UGA was the better team and they had the revenge factor on their side. Yes, he is. My concern is if he can keep on doing that for years to come.
I believe Miles will bring home more wins & more SEC Championships. Miles will be facing a much tougher SEC West every year than Saban did though... As is every other LSU fans', including me.
I hope Les Miles does win more games and SEC titles than Saban did. What, about Les Miles, makes you think he will do that, though? Because he can take advantage of facilities? Because he may get some athletes? Because he can be a "GM"? Because Saban paved the way for his successor? What makes about Les Miles, solely, makes you think he can do that?
He has determination. Whether it's obvious on the sidelines & during interviews or not, I've liked him ever since I saw what he did once he got here (I wasn't a big fan of his hire originally) - he had less than a month, yet kept a lot of talented guys committed to LSU & managed to go out & get a few recruits Saban wasn't able to get, including the number 1 QB in the country Ryan Perrilloux; then, he went out & put together a fine coaching staff. He was relentless in his persuit of a quality DC with the characteristics he demanded, including college success & previous NFL experience, and he managed to retain our OC to ease the transition for our team. That told me everything I needed to know about Les Miles. He wants to win more than anyone. Because of that, I've maintained my optimism about him through this season when few others were.
Not Saban nor any other coach could have done much better there. Also, I answered the question already.
I know, you posted before I got mine posted. You seem to think I am just a huge fan of Saban. Why is that?
