I would've answered this question prior to the SEC title game this way: I think a Saban-coached LSU would've done about the same, probably wouldn't have blown a 21-point lead vs. Tenn but may have lost another game, so I'd say about the same. After the SEC Championship game I would answer this way: I believe Saban was a master at getting his team ready to play in championship caliber games. I was disappointed with the Tigers in their effort vs. UGA and it doesn't have to do so much with Les Miles as it does the individual player. I know the Tigers were tired and they looked it, but I'm sorry as an athlete you work, sweat, bleed for the opportunity to play for championships. So, each player must be held accountable for getting himself motivated and prepared to play. Shouldn't need some Knute Rockne "Win one for the Gipper" speech to motivate you to play for the SEC title. Now, Les and his staff does bear some responsibility toward making sure his charges are ready to play and putting them in positions to succeed. After Spadoni missed recovering the opening kickoff fumble, the Tigers appeared tired and unmotivated and there's just no excuse IMO for that in a championship game. So, I think LSU would be 11-1 and SEC Champs if Saban were the head coach just because his propensity to excel in championship games.
Well, maybe it wasn't everybody, but it was quite a few people, including many LSU fans & the national media.
National media was locked on USC & TX. LSU has an outside chance but a slim one. I think both team deserve it. :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
We were; However, USC & Texas won their last game. The result of the SEC championship game would have been diff if one of the above mentioned teams lost. College football is strictly business. We blewn out UG in the SEC championship in 2003 because OK lost. :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
