Perspective of a Dolphins Fan: The Fins are terrible, and have less talent than almost every team in the league (other than the Texans:angryfire ) especially at QB. Any rational fan would know it's going to take some time to get a competitive team. However, as TF is showing, there are a LOT of irrational fans. Sure, not all are irrational, they might just be simpletons that can't look past a coach when evaluating a team. Saban's comments about winning and losing were in-line with his mantra at LSU. That's not to say he wasn't happy about winning, but when you have a team that's just not that good, you're building for the future.
Perspective of an NFL Fan: Coaches aren't always given the necessary time to rebuild... The Dolphins have talent, just old talent... Once those vets on defense move on, they have a completely gutted team... They are potentially 4-5 years from winning... Has a team ever waited on a coach for that long? NO
Not so fast...The Colts have taken their time, and proceeded methodically under Dungy. The Giants, Rams, Ravens, and Titans have all recently been competitive in short times. The Fins defense is getting worse....fast. And they have a lot of cap money tied up there, that should ease their pain as the vets move on. The intractable problem with the Fins is the o-line and QB. The same problem they've had since that waterhead Spielman took over. Now he's gone, and Saban has a chance to make positive personnel moves. The crappy thing is that the thing that will take the Fins the LONGEST to overcome is Spielman & Co.'s shocking ineptitude in the Draft and free agency. They'll give him some time...enough for a fair shot to get the team turned around.
What QB would they draft 2nd? because they won't get Leinart... Vince Young? I don't even know who is the #2 rated QB in the draft right now
I will be enraged if they draft a QB in the top 5. There's just better value for QBs later in the draft...any draft.
I don't like the rookie QB anyway... You are better off signing an accurate, veteran like Dallas did with Bledsoe... Starting a rookie is an automatic failure in the next season, unless you have an unbelievable defense and/or running game like Pittsburgh and Chicago
