This is absolute hearsay and has no link, but on another board a poster mentioned that a high member of TAF called into a radio program and said it would be in the form of a 15 million dollar annuity he would collect only after being here for 6-7 years. If he bolts between now and then, he would get nothing. Yes this is only rumor and speculation, and I am saying it loud and clear. As far as the article I posted, since it was in the Miami Herald I felt it was at least newsworthy.
Come on!!! I am proud to have gone to LSU and received my master degree, but I will NOT…and I DO MEAN WILL NOT supports this. This is ridiculous. He does not deserve to get this type of money. Considering there is a budget downfall in the state of Louisiana. LSU can not pay enough to keep professors on staff, and large classroom settings, this is not the type of message we need to be sending. Trust me; I know football brings a lot of revenue, but to think some money could go towards the school itself. This is spinning way out of control. TAF, BOS, and Skip, get a clue, let Nick go! He has been treated like a KING in Baton Rouge, the state of Louisiana, and the SEC. He is paid well for it. $2.3 million in Baton Rouge is plenty! My opinion! :dis:
I agree. No one is worth that. Got It? didn't INVENT football people. LSU has done all a University can be reasonably expected to do for coach. If that's not enough for Got It?, goodbye.
My opinion: BS!!!! He (Saban) has said, as reported on this forum a number of times, "it's not about the money." I believe it. Got It?
I do wonder What the university generates from football if you looked at the Saban 5 years vs. the previous 5 years. Licensing merchandise, bowl payouts, etc. Not to mention the intangibles like free PR for the university, etc. Not justifying the salary, but somebody must have their hands around what the recent success is worth in terms of dollars.
I think it is also important to note these same rumors (4mil/yr) were swirling when the Bob Stoops/Fla courtship was going on. However I am not sure a newspaper had actually picked it up or not.
