Living in Burbank right now. Had two quakes shake the apartment a couple of weeks ago. At least with hurricanes you get a chance to run.
I live in Meridian and we lost power for 3 days with Ivan last year. I hope the same doesn't happen this year.
Same boat with my fellow CA Tigers. Couple of earthquakes (generally not bad in San Diego) and a wildfire about 400 yards from the house. Fire Helicopter flying over the roof. The fires are scarier to me than hurricanes since they pop up anywhere and move really fast. On the other hand it is 72 degrees and sunny with a light breeze today.
I,too, love the thunder, lightning, and rain. I see the power of nature. I used to live two blocks off the beach in Fort Walton Beach. If you ever "ride out" a really "good" one, you will leave for even a small one. Especially if you are responsible for loved ones. They had a couple of hurricane junkies in Mississippi too. (when Camille came through) They had "friends" tie them to the piers to watch the storm come in. Talk about a bath. Talk about a funeral!!!
Im the same way. Im in Mobile, and it looks like its going more toward Pensacola, anyway. Ill be riding it out. Hell, its an excuse to throw a hurricane party!
