I would not be disappointed with Fisher whatsoever. If he were hired, he would keep everyone who wanted to stay IMO. Maybe only Dooley and Searles would leave. Check out these comments by Jimbo: He is all but guaranteeing the administration and the fans that if they hire him, he will be here until he stops coaching. He seems to understand the fans really want committment, and he is letting us know he understands that and accepts that responsibility. You never know, he may turn out to be one of those lifers - they do still exist, but they are few and far between.
You can pay him more? That's interesting. You have the financial books or something from each school? And I didn't say that Auburn was the end all be all, just that going from being Auburn's OC to being LSU's OC is a lateral move...and that's if you guys get ready to pony up a good bit more to pay an OC that you've been doing. Like I say, the only way you're getting Borges next year is if you offer him the head coaching job. And I'd wish him well though I'd hate to see him go.
I think it's hilarious that you guys not only employ a former Auburn quarterback and OC, you also talk about getting a recent Auburn OC as your head coach and now we're talking about the CURRENT Auburn OC going to LSU.....but as soon as the letters T-U-B hit the keyboard....good Lord, it's a WHOLE different story. It's PAINFULLY clear why you hate Tuberville...much the same "hate" that other SEC teams had for Spurrier, I'm afraid. You guys are great! :hihi:
Another possibility I think we should give a look at Mike Shula. Look what he did this year with Bama and their team. Plus he is a cutie and the women would like that!:thumb: I think I will email Bertman with this idea. He might want it.
Serious question re: Chow. Why did Stanford and BYU pass on this guy? To me there is a reason he continually gets passed over. But it looks like he will be able to prove himself at Syracuse.
I think he needs more than one good year after the debacle of that coaching graveyard up in Indiana to prove himself. If Auburn looks good next season (even if they aren't undefeated, which is more than likely given the loss of Campbell, Brown and Williams), expect him to get a serious look by someone.
I just can't believe Carrol was mentioned as a name to get excited about at the start of this thread. Have you guys no pride? Sure he must be a pretty good coach, but I for one am tired of classless, whiney little brats for coaches, and I would be terribly dissapointed if he came here. Granted, it hasn't been mentioned, so that's a good thing, but I mean come on. I know we can't expect a new coach to be just like Saban, but Saban was a complete class act, and I would hope that we'd accept nothing less for a new coach. Think about how Saban acted, about what he said (which was often nothing), about how he treated his players with the utmost respect... Think about how last year, when all the BCS crap was hitting the fan, before the final rankings came out, Saban never said a word about it. Early on, when it looked like we were going to be the screwed team, he never said anything or dogged anyone. By contrast, what did Carrol say as he was leaving the field after the Rose Bowl? "I think we just won the National Championship!" What a moron. And if I cared enough, I'd go back and find other quotes with him whining and crying about the unfairness of it all. I don't want a crybaby for a coach. Crybabies don't earn my respect, and shouldn't earn yours either. What about how Saban always treated his players with respect? How he never fed the media any dirt on anyone. People like Damien James... I still don't know what happened with him, but I know Saban handled the situation with class. Or how about the situation last year when Carey got suspended? What about the emphasis on the education of the athletes? All I'm saying is, sure we want a coach that's going to win games and keep LSU football among the elite in the country, but that's not all there is to it. There have been some good teams with thugs on the roster (Miami maybe?), but who wants to deal with that? I loved the fact that with Saban we didn't have to worry about any Cecil Colins type drama. It was all about a class coach, with classy players. I'd love to see that continue.
