You can tell from the number of posts that I can leave and no one would notice, but like you, I am staying.
I don't post as much as I used to, but I don't post much anywhere else. Not as much substance and quality as there used to be. Not only here, other forums as well.
I think at least part of it is because the older we get, the more we notice more younger people coming to the forum. In addition to that, I think the better LSU gets as a program, the more "fans" it gets, if you catch my drift.
Too many sites to dilute out the posting talent, plus so many other things to compete for attention these days. The "noise to signal" lament has been made in many different places long before Tigerfans was created. Back in the day, before LSU was even on the net or the web as we now know it even existed, there were pretty much only the usenet forums to post in. The college football forum had 1000s of college students (outside of the Universities, few had access to usenet) posting about college football all in the same forum. The arguments were sometimes nuclear, the forum was never boring and was filled with master baiters, netgods, homers, geniuses, idiots, you name it. I've yet to see anything come close to rivaling usenet at its prime in the early 90s. Imagine all of the many college football forums of 2011 from the entire nation merged into one giant forum. It was wild, but a majority of people were posting under their own names because of how most universities back then had set up access. Amazing how forum quality can improve when blowhards can't hide behind anonymity.
