I would rather UT have won than USC. But I can't stand either one. The upside is we don't have to listen to that bogus "three-peat" chit. The down side is, Texas fans will be impossible to be around after winning the CWS AND the Rose Bowl.
Tell me about it. Just wait if their basketball team turns it around and wins a National Championship. Never thought I'd say it, but I'd rather see Duke win.
Take it from someone in Texas, it's going to be rather obnoxious to have to hear about the glory of UT! But I hate USC more (than any other team in sports), so I took one for the team, so to speak.
7. The only people nearly as happy as Texas fans today are supporters of LSU. The constant drumbeat of USC's quest for a three-peat was a thorn in the paw of Tigers fans, who felt that their team's 2003 BCS title had been all but erased in the national consciousness by USC's continued run at the top. This USC team will still be recalled as a great one, obviously, but its shadow would have loomed much larger had it beaten Texas on Wednesday. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/pete_mcentegart/01/05/ten.spot/index.html
