:miles: - yeah .. you're probably right. Maybe next spring with Mett as the starter, they'll just hand it to us then as well.
I’m not a coach or even a very knowledgeable fan, but I do know two things about Lee: He has played pretty well this season and despite what some think, UO had a good defense; and After his first disastrous season, he stayed with LSU, worked hard and has delivered when we needed him (most of the time) - when lots of other young men in his position and with his talents would have bailed and gone to another school. With JJ out and the possibility of his coming back as a starter getting dimmer and dimmer with each day he is not with the team and practicing, I stay with Lee until he gives me a reason to look elsewhere. ldskule:
I agree but let's face it, it's not like they were lining up to take him after 16 picks in however many quarters he played.
Young in years, old in wisdom! I think the past 2 years of tiger football would give anyone grey hair.
.... and we've faired so well with his replacement over the last two years. Hell, I don't see how we even let him back on the field. [sarc alert] Lee ain't perfect, and it's exciting that we have the prospects of a really good QB for the first time in years. I can't wait to see Mett hit his stride. Until then, I'll take the "current" Lee, and his performance for the last two games over what we've suffered through for the last two years any day. At least I'm not seeing that "deer in the headlights" .... "what the hell am I supposed to do" ... "I'm so totally confused" incompetence that has characterized the last two years. The O seems to have it together.
well actually you did with the near safety by Northwestern the key to any QB is having great protection up front, but for Lee it is beyond paramount
Not sure what that has to do with him staying after a "disastrous" season and/or no team wanting him but I'm no J Lee hater. Agree with the outlook of the QB situation but sorry it's only for one year, maybe one and a half. We need to put a high priority on recruiting a top notch one in next year's class and developing him. I wish we had a fresh/soph youngen on the roster now who was a legit candidate to back Mett up next year. Miles misfortune with QB's is well documented.
No .. all I saw was Lee fold like a lawn chair. But I'll agree 100%, the guy needs to learn to scramble a bit. It's like the sack in the Oregon game ... he had a running lane, but turned and ran back into the crowded pocket ... were he was crushed of course. But that's not the look I'm talking about ... The "look" I'm talking about is the one in the huddle, and when walking up to the line, ... and then looking back at the side line, and while reading the defense ... and looking all confused. You know what I'm talking about ... I know you do. [I don't know, maybe the confusion was purely Crowton's fault .. and had nothing to do with JJ, but I've never seen that look on any other QB's face].
