Not that I believe you, but if you were half the fan you thought you were (or proclaim to be), people like that would have zero effect on your attendance.
This has come up before. Attendance at games is not a requirement for being a good fan. I'm not a young turk and when you get older, you lose patience with the foolishness of youth. I understand it, just have a lower tolerance for the crap the younguns do in the name of having fun. As for the bleacher coaches, it was really getting to me. Friends who still attend regularly tell me that it's gotten worse. I don't miss the hassle of driving to and from Tiger Stadium. Most games are televised so I get to see them. If they weren't, I'd probably go to more games. I get to a mens' and womens' basketball and baseball games occasionally and never miss a game on TV or radio. Never. I have been to more LSU football games than most of you. I just choose not to go now. No crime there.
I got news for you old man. I sit in the North End Zone, just about surrounded by a group of middle aged season ticket holders. I think age ranges between 55 and 70 for all of them. I've been sitting there since 2003. They all have a football IQ of about 50. They are the ones doing all of the whining, bitching, calling for players to be benched, calling for coaches to be fired, etc. I had to turn around and tell a grandpa to watch his mouth after he was cursing during the App. St game (my 4 year old was in attendance). I had to explain to these old mother****ers during the UT game that we couldn't possibly stop anything with 22 people playing on defense and sucking wind and IV's. Otherwise I think they would have stormed the field and lynched the coaching staff.
Why must you constantly revert to the mantra of 'That's not the/what's your point' when someone paints you into a corner? Besides, how does you not being one of the subjects prevent you from comprehending what most would consider to be a rather lucid perspective?
It is certainly possible to be critical of a team for poor performance and coaching but still be a supporter. Over the years I have been critical of the LSU football program when I felt it was justified, but I have never stopped supporting it. In fact, if a critic has the programs best interest in mind and the criticism is constructive and fair, that can be considered a form of support.
I did not connect the dots between the foolishness of youth and bleacher coaches. 2 different things. Besides, it's my decision not to attend LSU football games. It's a personal decision and, frankly, I dont care what you think of my decision. I was merely attempting to explain to you that non-attendance at games does not equate to not being a good fan. If such were the case, there would only be approximately 92,000 LSU fans.
Some have proximity and financial issues, while you... very demonstrably due to your frequent traveling... have neither. You are of the same category as the bashers... you just bash the bashers rather than the coaches.
