Pretty much the same thing that happened to Pete Maravich and Wally Pontiff. Don died in his sleep from a congenital heart defect in March, 1988. The last time I saw him was the prior November...I was getting a Coke out of the machine at CEBA, and he came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder. We laughed and shook hands (hadn't seen each other in a while) and he told me he was on his way to work. I offered him a lift, but he said he'd rather walk, as it was a beautiful day. Sadly, I never saw him alive after that.
That is really sad but I must admit that I am a coward when it comes to dying. I know one day I will die and I hope i'm lucky enough to die in my sleep. Please don't take this post the wrong way but this little incident has made me think about my own existance or lack there of one day!
Every time I am in BR I go to Resthaven. My dad is buried there, along with two uncles and a cousin. One of my uncles is 20 yards away from where Pete & Don are buried. I stop by their graves and say a prayer for them too... Everyone I know who is there were ALL GREAT TIGERS. And I miss them all very much.
Don't sweat it, SD. I think it's perfectly natural to ponder your own mortality as you get older...you just can't dwell on it.
I haven't checked out the top 50 nba players list, but you've got to be wrong. THere is no way that UCLA wasnt included in there with at least two (Walton and Kareem)--I'd also be surprised if Kansas also didnt have two with Wilt and Manning.
That 86 team was the best team that Dale ever assembled in my opinion. He didn't have the best talent but he did assemble what many coaches fail to do--he assembled a Team and a team with heart & soul for the game. The Georgia Tech game was simply amazing.
I just double checked my list and I do have a boo boo. Sorry everyone....... UCLA did have Jabbar and Walton my bad.... Kansas only had 1 btw with Chamberlain still really good company though :geaux:
