I have no problem with the O-Line man, I meant that we look soft on the middle on DEFENSE at times...

If we are soft up the middle against Auburn, then we will get killed.

I'll agree with that too. Up the middle of our D we haven't been great. Not bad at all, but not as good as we need to be. That plays right into Auburn's strength.

Yes Auburn has a new front 7. Granted it was MSU, but they didn't look bad to me. It's not like they don't have talent to replace them. Besides, what exactly did their old front 7 to do stop us last year?

First, if Hanagriff and anyone else in the media would like to give LSU extra motivation to win, they are welcome to do so from my perspective. I WANT everyone in the media to write editorial after editorial this week about how Auburn is going to run the ball against those weak little pansies on the LSU defense.

That kind of pre-game media drivel should help our defense have the proper attitude in approaching this game, and I'll take whatever mental edge the team can get from the media.

Of course, the reality is that we have only given up 69 yards a game on the ground, and a large part of that was given up on one 50-plus yard play against OSU where we missed tackles. Auburn clearly has better RB's than OSU or ASU, but by the same token, ULM and MSU do not have defenses that are anything like LSU's defense. Our pursuit speed is considerably faster than the teams Auburn has played, which not only creates the opportunity to make tackles for loss, it prevents long gains even on runs where the DL has been blocked pretty well. The key for our defense is to make tackles and not miss them like we did against OSU.

People are also forgetting that we are just as loaded at RB as Auburn is. JV, Addai and Ally should be trouble for an inexperienced Auburn front seven, at least if the OL shows up. It is just as important for Auburn to stop LSU's running game as it is for LSU to stop Auburn's running game. JV has a history of stepping up in big games.

It is still possible that we could beat ourselves on offense like we did against OSU, but I don't expect that to happen in the third game of the year. Also, as best as I can tell, Auburn does not have anyone on their defense like Swancutt or Browner for OSU.

Plus, we have Nick Saban on the sideline, and they have Tubby. Does anyone believe that coaching matchup gives any advantage to Auburn?

I was listening to that on my way home. My first thoughts were, what a ****ing *******, so I called about a dozen times and could'nt get in. I was gonna ask him if he thinks we should even play the game. He repeated that the Auburn game is set up for us to lose. "Tough Spots" he called it, but UGA would not be a "Tough Spot". I don't have a problem with em voicing his opinion, but don't say it like it's a given already.

When Auburn upset #1 Ranked Florida a couple of seasons ago, Campbell was at the helm. But your point is still a valid one. JC has not yet demonstrated the level of leadership necessary for a division championship run. That's not to say that he won't, but clearly his past record -in general- doesn't support him dictating the outcome of the game. JC simply needs to consistently make good decisions and not turn the ball over, insuring Auburn has an opportunity to play with it's strength - the ground attack.

Last year, I don't believe that was accomplished and the outcome was evident. Whether or not JC can accomplish that this year is anybody's guess at this point. He's capable of it, he's a Senior, he's matured considerably, and he's out to prove the naysayers wrong (and there are plenty of them within the AU fanbase).

Bitter memories can burn deep in the offseason and can provide an individual the burning motivation to prepare through pain and hard work. JC has done that this season and views the LSU game as a team opportunity, thinking like a leader. Very few QB's have overcome the adversity seen by Jason Campbell....very few.

How about Auburn vs. LSU in 2002. Remember 31-7? Yes MR had 4 ints, but Campbell was pretty good in converting those turnovers into scores.

In answer to NOSA...Hanagriff was not forced to say it. He came out and said it openly and unsolicited. He then provided his reasons. No one goaded him into it. Rush was caught off-guard, and so was Scott McKay of Purple & Gold who was his co-host for the final hour after Rush left to walk down with the band...

No one provoked him into saying it. He began the show by denigrating OSU, and then kept on going about how good Auburn was and how good they looked against MSU. Hanagriff knew what he was going to say, and from the MINUTE the pre-game show came on, he was leading up to saying it.

I do not know why he would say it, other than just to be a maverick or create interest in the post-game show, where he had to have known he'd take bodyshot after bodyshot regarding the opinion itself...

Again, what is it that Auburn has shown you all that makes you think that they will win?

Why is the Georgia game more winnable for LSU than the Auburn game?

One close win, and you people question not only yourselves, but LSU...

I trust Nick Saban, and I know what I've seen out of Auburn, which is almost nothing. They've shown me nothing. I've seen what happens to LSU on a wet field. I've seen what LSU can do on a dry field. I've seen what happens when our mettle is tested. I have not seen what Auburn does when their mettle is tested.

I know that LSU has two quarterbacks who have responded to pressure. I know two quarterbacks for LSU that-when on-can lead us to victory.

I don't know of ANY quarterback Auburn has that can lead them to a big game victory.

I don't know how you all think that a returning offensive line that is-if anything-an improvement than last year's will have trouble with a front 7 for Auburn that is totally new, and untested. Unless they are better than last year (a 31-7 win), then it won't be close.

On the other side of the ball...What has Auburn's offensive line shown you about them being able to run the ball against us? Their line was sub-par at BEST last year. Ask any expert what the downfall of Auburn was last year. Ineffective quarterback play and a line that couldn't block for its outstanding tailbacks.

It's plain as the nose on your face...

Auburn's question marks are much more than ours. We have answers, and we have experience. We have coaching. We have talent.

We will have the victory, as well.

TE, granted you may be right on the money. But let me ask you a question in all seriousness - no smack intended, just a football question. In what specific area(s) has LSU demonstrated an improvement over their 2003 team?

Come on now man, everyone has their right to their prediction. I'm a HUGE LSU fan and at this point, with so many question marks, I'm not confident that we will beat Auburn next Sat. Of course I hope we do, but at this point we just don't know. But then some people just aren't happy unless EVERYONE picks LSU to win them all. :dis:

Just answer this one small questioon for me, Carface. What has LSU done up to this point that makes it totally asinine to pick Auburn to win this game? If you can give me a legit answer, then maybe I'll see it your way.
