Here's the thing. ND is great offensively and Weiss is one of the best game planners in college or pro. But in the end, LSU's talent wins out. I hate to steal a line from Al Davis of all people, but I don't care if the score is 2-0 or 50-49. Just win baby.
Again? Where is this coming from? Where has Weiss shown that he's a great game planner? Was it his plan to have MSU totally choke on the pill in the last 8 minutes? Smith handed Weiss his fat a$$ in that game. Same with UCLA. Weiss got outcoached from the start. I didn't see any thing "great" in the USC and Michigan game plans. Quit drinking the damn media kool-aid. If Weiss was doing his thing at LSU, there'd be a moving van at his front door. A big one.
??? Come on, man. He brings up some legitimate points, and I don't see how any of them are a mark on him being a true Tiger fan. Would it make him more of a fan if he just blindly predicted and LSU route, with no consideration of some very real concerns? I wouldn't say so. You don't need to alienate people because you may not agree with them. Hey, maybe you could even state why you disagree with them instead of just bashing them.
Great Post! You are not alone! Here are Dandydon's (Don Long) predictions: Outback Bowl, January 01 Tennessee 21 Penn State 17 Cotton Bowl, January 01 Auburn 31 Nebraska 27 Gator Bowl, January 01 West Virginia 35 Georgia Tech 20 Capital One Bowl, January 01 Wisconsin 34 Arkansas 24 Rose Bowl, January 01 Michigan 31 USC 27 Sugar Bowl, January 03 LSU 31 Notre Dame 27 BCS National Championship Ohio State 31 Florida 17 :geauxtige IMO, if LSU shows up less than ready to play 110%, they lose this game. That means coaching & game plan that uses LSU's huge talent edge over ND. And it is a HUGE talent & speed advantage. There is zero reason that LSU should lose this game. The only way LSU loses ... like all season long ... is if LSU BEATS LSU. People on this board have been slamming Weiss, likely for the Michigan & USC losses ... In both those games ... USC & Mich had the speed & talent edge on ND ... ALONG WITH A GOOD GAME PLAN TO KICK ND BUTT. WHAT THE TOP PROGRAMS DID TO ND ... Av 23 pt win (almost 4 TDs) USC 44 - ND 24 (20 pts) ... MICH 47 - ND 21 (26 pts) LSU SHOULD WIN BY 20+, RIGHT? WE'RE BETTER THAN USC, RIGHT? LSU SHOULD WIN BY 26+, right? WE'RE BETTER THAN MICH, RIGHT? LSU SHOULD SCORE MORE THAN 44 or 47, Right? LSU SHOULD HOLD ND TO LESS THAN 20, RIGHT? LSU 50, ND 17 ... CUZ LSU IS BETTER THAN MICH & USC ... RIGHT? And you want that huge Preseason Vote for 2007, Right? LSU # 2 or 3 in the Preseason ... Well, they gotta beat the hell outta ND to prove they deserve that rating. And, if they want to be ahead of MICH & USC ... Miles needs to hang 50 on Weiss & ND. ... When Pigs fly This is Les Miles big chance to gain some of that respect after finishing at the bottom of the vote in the BCS coaches poll (cuz nobody ever heard of Boise St coach). After all, the game is being played in our back yard ... on a fast track ... artificial turf. I don't expect Miles to do it ... he's too conservative. A Histry Lesson (from ole Ramah) I remember the last time a big slow Notre Dame team came down south to play LSU ... SOUTH OF I-10 ... They called it the "Battle on the Bayou" I still got the T-shirt ... Boy, were we cocky before that game! We "wuz gonna stomp a mudhole in Old ND" ... they didn't have the speed to hang with us, nor the talent. My little internet cherubs (mommy's dearest ... each and evry one of u) I'm here to tell you that ND beat our cocky azzzzzzes good and handily that day ... and even tho we won the rematch in the Weedwhacka Bowl It NEVER took away the sting of that loss (at home) that day. NOTRE DAME 24 ... LSU 6 After LSU beat #1 Ranked Florida on that same field. Ole Ramah never forgot that azzz beatin' Anyone who's cocky about this game ... just doesn't know their FB. My personal prediction for the game ... PAIN!
I'll steal some of SabanFan's words. The other team wants to win the game too! Meaning that I don't think we will blow out ND! I don't think the Tiger's will lose the game either! I am just a little scared of overconfidence! I've seen it happen too many times in sports but I hope the Tigers come out smoking like our last bowl game!
calm down zinc. going back in history to talk about a team is a very irrelevant argument you make. both programs and teams are much different now. sounds like you dont know YOUR football. its one thing to say that this team is a little too cocky but the evidence(?) you cited doesnt support your argument.
LSU has the #3 rated passer in the nation, a core of soft handed recievers who can bring down anything Russell throws their way, and a tight end who can demolish the secondary to pick up 1st downs. Our running game sucks. Which makes us ONE deminsional. Our RBs have got to pick up the tempo and create running lanes and big plays. If our RBs can do this, they take the pressure off of Russell and allows him more options for the Offense. LSU though has shot themselves in the foot so many times this year when the drive mattered most. Although I contribute Officiating to the loss at Auburn, LSU's offense should have been able to score atleast 10 points to over come this. Miles is a very conservative coach who refuses to drive the nail in his oppenents. Once LSU gets a lead, they stop attacking on offense and run the ball. And our defense goes to a prevent set up, and stops rushing the passer. If we expect to beat ND we have got to play the kind of game we played in 2004 against Oklahoma. Attack the defense every chance we get on offense and smother the recievers and QB on defense. I have faith LSU will prevail in this game, BUT, LSU has been their own undoing during the season. We have got to come together and Miles has got to get the "eye of the tiger" mentality to impress the sports writers and win BIG.
max's posting is one anti-LSU/Miles bash after another. My post did not reflect upon the content rather, his history as a hater. I personally feel that ND will come out on fire and will give the Tigers all they can handle. I am far from being totally comfortable with our prospects of winning, let alone cruising. The LSU team is not going to rest on their laurels and media/fan predictions, though. They will be there to kick some butt. My hatred of Notre Dame will not allow me to give them any credit whatsoever, so, I will not praise them.
You ARE joking, right, about the Sugar Bowl vs. OU? We went so vanilla on offense in the 2nd half that we almost lost the game--or at least made it closer than it had to be. And "LSU has shot themselves in the foot SO MANY TIMES this year when the drive mattered most"? Garbage--and if you've watched the games sober, you know it. The AU game was a abberation--obviously. And enough with the Weiss lovefest--please. Yes, LSU could lose the game, but we, as LSU fans, have no reason NOT to feel confident that we will win the contest. That's where our football program is. Yes, we lose sometimes, but EVERY TIME we walk on a field, the game is ours to win or lose. It has not always been that way. And, Ramah/Zinc/Whatever Name You Have Today (much like AU), if you study football and history and LSU football history, when in recent memory have we had a stretch like the one we're in now?
