well then it puts Alabama at the one with 4 shots to get into the endzone....i would think they could have possibly gotten in with 4 shots.
Many of those kind of videos are missing on youtube since they started cracking down on footage from games. If I remember the video right, I think it was just copied in full form with the announcers and everything.
SEC football refereeing is bad enough when the power teams play each other. However, when the up and coming teams play a power SEC team it gets much worse, especially in a close game. Go Dawgs! ClaraDawg
God I hate ya'll complaining about that game. Had it been a close game, then I would feel bad, but it wasn't. Crappy call? Yeah. Bama fans seem so certain that they would have scored from the 6 yard line. Let's recap shall we? In the second half, here is how the Tide drives went that surrounded that INT. 3 plays, 1 yard 3 plays, 3 yards <--- INT 3 plays, -2 yards 2 plays, 6 yards <--- Fumble recovered by LSU for a TD. So in the first four drives of the second half, the Tide gained 8 yards. Why are you so sure that the result wouldn't have been the same?
Stats are good and your point is a valid one but something that doesn't show up in stats but also doesn't trump them is momentum...are you willing to tell me that had Alabama scored on that drive the out come of the game would have been different? I'm not saying it was a game destroying call but the fact that not one but TWO SEC officials saw the entire play is wha gets us upset...we are just as upset at this call as the crap calls LSU got from the refs at Auburn. Since its impossible for either of us to know what the outcome of the game would have been had Alabama scored can we at least agree that some kind of accountability system needs to be put in place for SEC officials?
BAMA has historially gotten the calls against MSU especially when playing in Tuscaloosa. Remember a fanthom block in the back against MSU after a very deep punt return by the Dawgs during Jackie Sherill's era. Was on TV, fairly tight game in the fourth quarter, and the announcer's had them rerun the play a couple of times and there was no block in the back by the Dawgs. Just one example. Go Dawgs! yet again another reason why SEC officials need to be held accountable in some way for the calls they make.
going back to the lsu-tenn game both mac and I were sitting in the 5th row in the section right where the ball hit the tennessee guy, every one of the tennessee fans starting cursing and got pissed because the ball CLEARLY hit their guy. After the call was held up one of the tenn fans tapped me on the shoulder and said "Man, we really got away with that one." That was just one example of the pathetic play calling last year, and not just one that can be judged, it was dead obvious.
I'll go one step farther. Just watch Morley (sp?), the guy who touched it, he turns around and starts pursuing the ball b/c he KNOWS he touched it then when he sees how close the LSU players are he throws his hands up like he didn't touch it. He would never have initially pursued the ball like that if he didn't touch it. We see players throw their hands up all the time and it's 99% of the time b/c they just did something. Additionally, there is no reason whatsoever for a punt returner to need to throw his hands up like he didn't do anything.... unless of course he did. Not that you can blame this all on that call but Tennessee did score a TD on the ensuing drive. So basically what would have been a sure TD for LSU turned into a TD for Tenn. We dominated that game, it should never have been that close.
