Worst I ever saw (although they eventually got it right), was us and Bama '00 (Ithink). Remember the punt where the Bama guy was blocked into our returner? Originally called Fair catch interference, then changed to blocked into the returner. Originally gave Bama the ball First and Goal from the nine, even though LSU actually recovered the ball cleanly with no one else really cole to him. Then they overturned that, giving LSU the ball because they saw the replay on the jumbo-tron, even though there was no such thing as instant replay in college football at the time. Other notes from that game: Two guys ran onto the field (came from the general direction of the student section) during a stop in play, dropped trou and mooned he visiting section of fans. One of the two got took down pretty easily, but the other guy juked and jived, and made a few people miss befor finally getting tackled. We should have offered him a scholly. After an un-successful on-side kick attempt by Bama with 3 seconds lef, LSU fans stormed the field, and took down the goal post even though it was completely caked with vaseline from top to bottom. That was an action packed night.
At least the SEC had the balls to admit that was a bad call. ESPN Article Unlike after the LSU/AU game last year, when they said they were right.
And what good does an apology do? Nothing, officials need to be held accountable for there actions or they have no reason to get better. Something has to happen and happen soon. :cuss:
 Doesn't change anything, but it makes it a lttle easier to swallow, and doesn't look as much like a conspiracy. When you watch a game in which two plays are very similar (ball gets intercepted while reciever is assaulted behind the pick, ball gets deflected while receiver get's assaulted behind the play) yet get called exactly opposite of each other (LSU gets galled for interference/ Auburn doesn't because ball was uncatchable). Then the SECsays they got BOTH calls right? They were essentially the same freaking play. Only difference is our defender caught the ball instead of batting it away.
Umm, :dis: no it doesn't put Bama on the one. Its a fifteen yard penalty and an automatic first down. Your quarterback would have gotten killed by Landry again, so I guess that call saved someone's life. You should thank the refs.
I honestly thought lsu fans would storm the field if they would not have corrected that call. In the stands , with how long it had been since we had beaten Bama at home, you could feel the frustration ,anger, tension ,whatever. One of my favorite things to do is to go back after a big win and listen to the opposing teams broadcast of the game on gamechannel.I did this for that game to see what their announcers were saying about this play. After it appeared they had ruled that the bama player was blocked into the return guy,the Bama color guy says " I dont know what the hold up is,bama obviously recovered the football." I thought wtf game are you watching ,pal? Eli Gould is the Bama play by play man ,but I cant remember who the color guy was.I just know it wasn't Ken Stabler who is their color guy now.
