The line stretched from one end of Barnes & Noble to the other I don't know how many people were at the signing but I got there at 2 pm and there were already five people ahead of me in line. By the time I got my book signed, at exactly 5:05, the line of people stretched from one end of the store to the other (from the cookbook section to the magazine rack, if you know the store.) It might even have curled around from there. Someone said there were 350 people, but certainly it could have been more, and someone said there were 1,000 during the entire period (he stayed for 2 hours and I'm sure more people came in after I left.) Barnes & Noble's sales numbers for the book might not tell you how many people were there because some people bought multiple copies and, on the other hand, there were families there with just one book. It was very congenial, everyone helping each other out (saving spots while we went to the restroom, bought more books, etc.) and Nick's demeanor when he got there just capped it all off as a very positive experience. The only negative was the Barnes & Noble celebrity police act which luckily Nick ignored. I do think Nick would be a great AD one day. He certainly seems to be an excellent manager. Let's hope that every one involved in this whole coaching change-up has huge successes and thinks of LSU/ :geaux: Baton Rouge as their destination when they're ready to enjoy life and do what they love.
No pictures allowed, supposedly, (from the Barnes & Noble people) but again I think Nick ignored them and some people did get pictures. Of course there were news people taking pictures.
From a different thread but shows how nice NS is... PS Pray for Linda Coach Saban more than books at Barnes and Nobles. My friend, Steve Kleinpeter, had a Fonville photograph of the stadium from 1930 that he presented to Coach Saban. Then when Steve told him that he really wanted his signature on a 16 x 20 of the Stadium (that he wants to raffle off for our fellow parishioner and teacher at St. Aloysius, Linda A. , who had a recent bone marrow transplant,) Nick told him to go get it. The Barnes and Noble people wanted Steve to wait, but Nick said, "No, we will do this now." The Sabans are members of our parish and very classy people. He was very nice to do that. :thumb: I hope that the raffle goes well, because Linda and Chris A. are two of the nicest people that I have ever met! I think the tickets will be 5$ a piece for a framed 16x 20 Fonville photograph of Tiger Stadium in 1930 that is signed by Nick Saban. I am going to really miss the Sabans.
It took 3 hours for 5 people in front of you to get an autograph!?!?! That's some quality time w/ Saban, huh?! :thumb:
Someone near and dear to me left with an identical impression to yours. I was told there were about 500 in line. I asked if he had his Dolphin colors on. Was advised he was very "neutral" in his attire. :thumb:
Book Signing started at 5 pm :hihi: No, it didn't take the other three very long to get their books signed...although we were there beginning about 2-2:30 Nick wasn't scheduled to arrive until 5. To his credit he was exactly on time.
