in those three cases, yes, the better QB was on the bench. hindsight is 20/20. maybe JJ has peaked at 19, Lee peaked at 19:wave:
What i would like to see is an open competition for the starting position, and not the coaching staff just lying to us by telling us there is an open competition. Jordan Jefferson needs someone snipping at his heels for his job. I think if Garrett is given a fair shot, and if he has improved he will be a very good quarterback, he looked like the most talented quarterback at the spring game earlier this year.
Its obivous to me that we have a lack of QB coaching so why go through yet another season just to get the kinks worked out of YET another QB?
I think Les Miles is a good man and I like him, but I don't think he gives a damn about LSU anymore after winning his championship. If he did, he'd have Crowton in his office and he'd be finding out what the friggin problem is! If he doesn't fire Crowton it's a good sign he is happy to just ride off into the sunset and count his millions of dollars.
Well, I didn't think the 13/24, 202 yard, 1 TD/1 Int. performance was that bad. Especially when you consider all the drops we had and the problems of throwing a wet ball. Although I think the QBing sucked in the 1st half, I thought the much bigger issue was the 25 carries, 41 yards and turnover deep in our own territory our running game produced.
i still think there should be an open competition. I don't think Jefferson should be replaced unless Garrett is worlds better than Jefferson. Jefferson has a full year and a couple of games under his belt, and he has been bad at times, but he has also been good at times. I think with a good balanced offense, with a good run game and you would see a really good quarterback, he really reminds me of Jason Campbell when he was at Auburn. The only game in which Jefferson didn't play well enough for us to win was the Florida game.
THIS. post of the year. a big line would make JJ and maybe even Lee look good. dominate in the first three qtrs too would be nice. excellent post. :thumb: but one freshman recruiting class wont change our O line.
So you think Garrett could have made the receivers catch all the balls that hit their hands? Jefferson had a fantastic game. I hated seeing him shy away from contact, I didn't like that sack that he took and I think that a more veteran QB might have handled the end of the game better, but if you didn't see a big step in the right direction for JJ today, then you just don't want to see one.
I don't know about all that now... He played much better than people are giving him credit for and it was in awful conditions. I thought he was damn good in the 2nd half. But it did take him a few drives before he basically threw one decent pass. Everything was basically hitting the ground at first. But yeah, he did end up with pretty good numbers even with all the drops.
