    Nice profile picture. Very appropriate.

I hope so. That's a pretty tasteless picture considering the circumstances.

Come on, I know what you are saying, but look at the picture. I think we've all seen that commercial and know what the joke is.

I also hope that we'll pay some sort of tribute to the victims of the massacre this fall. I still liked the idea of the 32 empty seats in the visitors section with roses on them. That sort of echoes the empty seats on the lawn of the federal building in OKC at the bombing memorial (for those of you who might have been there); it's very moving.

I also have some migivings about a tribute 5 months away. It would have to be done in a very respectful way and seen as a gesture of unity. Otherwise it would be seen as pity which I fear would only reopen the slowly heeling wounds.

I think more brainstorming needs to be done by fans and the administration alike to make sure it is done right.

I wonder if offering tickets, courtesy of LSU, to the parents or siginificant others would be seen in poor taste...

I understand the concerns some people have about this being 5 months away but It's not as far as you think. Considering that this happened at the end of their spring semester and we will be playing them at the beginning of the fall semester makes the gap seem smaller. My guess is that most of the wounds will begin to reopen when the mass of students return for the fall semester. People\media WILL be talking about it again by then. Given we are their first major opponent and the game will more than likely be on national TV some sort of tribute should and will be made.

You make a good point. VT may be more in a "moving on " mode by that time. The game is likely going to be on national TV, who will make a big deal out of Katrina and the VT shootings anyway. Best to let September come and VT will indicate what they think is appropriate for LSU and for the TV network to do.

we need to combine our thoughts and prayers in memorium of the tragedy with the idea that college football brings us and them back to normalcy. i can't quite describe the feeling i had in Tiger stadium when LSU took on Tenn. after katrina. we wanted to play football because it was what you did in the fall. it was normal.

i think a tribute to the fallen is a great idea, but let's not go overboard. let's make our environment what it is: one of the best college football atmospheres in the nation.

when my wife lost her father before i met her many years ago, she told me there was a point where "if someone asked me if i was ok or they were sorry for my loss one more time, i would explode." everyone was walking on eggshells and handling her with kid gloves when all she really wanted was some sense of something normal in the world.

we can be that when the hokies come to town. i'm looking fwd to doing what we always do at tailgates, invite them in, feed them, assist in their drunkeness, and make sure there having a good time in our city. i'm pretty sure it's what we wanted after katrina.

Just because you make a tribute to someone doesn't mean you have to dwell on their loss if they are already moving on. I will be embarassed if there is no tribute before the game. I think some of you are overthinking this.
