I remember hearing a couple of weeks ago that the dude is still throwing picks in practice (he threw two in practice just before one of the earlier games). Think about it. As bad as JJ looked, think about how reluctant they were in putting Lee in place of JJ. We were saying the same thing last year.
That's the problem...we had to come back against Troy. We were losing 31-3 late in the 3rd because J. Lee could not hit any receivers. We had to put JJ in there so we could finally get in the end zone and gain some momentum. Of course, Lee had nothing to do with our D sucking last year, but he usually added points to the other team's total. He did make a great comeback against Auburn. But he also helped put us in the hole by throwing that screen that was picked and returned for a TD. Our playcalling has to improve and JJ has to learn to take chances. If we don't move the ball against Auburn, then I'm not opposed to trying the guy just to see if anything would happen. But Lee has not been more accurate than Jefferson. Where are you getting that from? Apparently you missed the last half of the season last year. And JJ did not kill our momentum that much. Some members of the o-line did not help getting penalized on consecutive plays and not blocking that well in the 2nd half. JJ didn't help in the 2nd half either. We couldn't get any momentum on O. But the one good drive we did have in the 1st half, the coaches killed it with conservative playcalling once they got inside the 10.
JJ is not playing well, but he is not the biggest impediment to the offensive success. Our line is not playing well either, and by that I mean at least one lineman screws up/whiffs a block. Not every play, but I would say more than 30%, and that is enough to destroy drives. But things like that are correctable. JJ can step into the pocket, but he doesn't trust his line(rightfully so). At this point, my biggest problem is the diversity of formations, which seem to confuse our players, and the delay/disconnect in calling the play after they line up(instead of a huddle), which seems to confuse our players. It's something that can be changed immediately, and while not solving all of our issues, it would wipe a huge chunk off the chalkboard. The offense might actually get some rythym.
One more comment about this nonsense... I keep hearing about the comeback against Auburn...can someone please remind us just HOW GOOD that Auburn team was????
JL had a full season to suck. Let JJ have his time. At least JJ isn't scoring points for the other team.
i think people are forget that Florida was a pretty sick defense. I'm not ready to pull the plug on JJ just yet. let's see how he responds. he looked ok on the game winning drive against Georgia a week ago. granted the dawgs laid an egg against Tennessee. it's still only one loss take this week let him air it out a little against Auburn and go from there. We'll know more about JJ after two or three weeks from now then we do now.
This is foolishness. It's not an all or none deal. Have Lee ready always to come into the game. If JJ is struggling, send Lee in to give JJ a chance to calm down and look at the game. Then send JJ back out to finish the game. Who knows, Lee may have something.
sure LSU couldve won with JL. couldve won with JJ. its kinda hard to see how much JL has progressed since we havent seen him play. seems to me the coaches were being conservative by playing JJ because he doesnt screw up and therefore LSU always has a chance to win. playcalling is the easiest fix. I kept expecting a QB draw against that pass rush. Like was done against UGA, i expected to see called plays to dickson and randle. it takes the mental game away from jj. crowton sees what UF is doing and calls a play. if it isnt there then jj should run or throw it away. maybe that did happen.
