If LSU had gone 12-0 The tigers would without a doubt be playing for a NC. The tigers preseason ranking was much higer than the Aubbies! The Skreamin Chickins had to much ground to make up.
I think LSU would have had to beat UGA by about 150 for any of those west coast idiots to take notice and jump us over USC or OU. Fact is that this year they wanted OU and USC in the Orange Bowl. OU and USC did their part and didn't lose and there was NO way anyone else was getting into that game.
I am saying that IF it happened at any time to LSU. The season it happens is irrelevant. ... and who cares about Aubarn?
Depends! Let's just suppose that Matt Mauch, Marquis Hill and Clayton had returned for their senior year. What would our preseason ranking had been? Probably no worse than #2, and should have been #1 (defending NC, only lose Lavalais as an impact player). So, if we start off the season ranked #1 or #2 we're in the NC game. The Okies can't break through because most people thought they didn't deserve to be in the NC game last year because of the Loss to K-State in the CCG. So, everybody gets the match up (LSU vs USC) in the NCG that they wanted last year this year :thumb:
Five years from now, if LSU is ranked #25 pre-seson, proceeds to go undefeated, then wins the SEC Championship game, and ultimately gets shut out of the national championship game.... nevermind..
You will be miffed that you didn't get a chance to win the MNC, maybe outright, but still be very, very proud of what your tean has accomplished, so proud that you won't complain too much. :grin:
that comes from not knowing what it feels like to win one. ignorance is bliss. if you wanna be proud, get a show-(lap)dog. Football is not about moral victories or 12-1 seasons with nothing to show for it. Then again, its all you'll have so I guess pride will have to do.
Kind of funny how this time last year everyone was b!cthing about USC fans whining because they didn't get in. Now everyone is taking shots at Auburn fan for not crying about getting screwed.
