If Steltz gets over 10 picks this year is he a first rounder?

    Of course he's not a first round pick. Safeties generally don't go in the first round, and the ones that do have the athleticism to play free safety (see: Laron and Reggie Nelson.)

    That's no knock on Steltz. If he shows good speed, he could be a mid to late 2nd round pick or more likely a third round pick. If he doesn't, he'll go in the 5th or 6th round.

    The NFL likes guys with hands, but hands are only good if the player has the speed and agility to get in position. His football IQ is unusually high though.

    I think Weddle gets the nod in that regard. Coverage skills are more coveted than strong safety skills. It's infinitely harder to find safeties that can cover (not just pick off passes) than those that are solid tacklers or helpers on the field.
