Davis knows some teams better than their coaches do. Pair him with Nessler and that would be solid. Sideline - Mushberger. Honey Badger takes him out for good after a sidleine pick!
Add me to the list who can't stand Gus Johnson. Vastly overrated imo. I also like Nessler as a play-by-play announcer. Analysts, I'm fine with Blackledge, although I like Danielson a lot.
Ha! That's how I feel about Mike Patrick. Everything is so damn grandiose when he says it. The cadence that he speaks with really pisses me off. Everything is soooo drawn out and overdone, I was also not impressed with Gus Johnson during the PAC12 CG.
Get him out of retirement ... Butkus! Guy's a riot ... met him in Vegas this summer the week before the LSU game ... I treated an an uncle to a photo op with him ... the usual ... photo, sign the ball and get an autographed special serial number jersey We were the last in line that day and he was running over ... Took the time to BS with us and talk got into how ESPN is ruining football and I mentioned the women in Sports now ... Believe me ... he's NOT happy with all the broads ruining football and the talking heads ... He used a term about the sports broads I won't repeat :hihi: Had us in stitches and calls it like it is ... Just a 180 degree from Holtz when you look at older guys ... He's pushing seventy now!
I like the way you think Mach!!! But I think you'd have to pair them with a good play by play guy. It would give them something to play off of. "Player X doesn't have a sack this year" You would also need an attractive sideline reporter for them to hit on during the broadcast.
What is in Verne's resume' that put him in this role in the first place? Danielson I kinda understand - but Verne ????
"Before becoming a nationwide sports commentator, from 1970 to 1974, Verne Lundquist was commentator for the sports show, Bowling for Dollars, in Dallas, Texas."
I can agree with the Patrick part. Like his voice, but he does over-accentuate things in the same manner. CWS comes to mind.
Mark Jones and Bob Davie were very good together. Davie is excellent as a color guy. It's now Bob Wischusen and Bob Davie. Davie is now a head coach again at NM State.
When I had my Bama watching party in November, the lifelong Dallas residents in the room were all saying, "Remember Verne from 'Bowling for Dollars'?" I felt lost. It was as if people from outside Baton Rouge had to hear adults saying, "Remember Buckskin Bill?"
