When he let it be known to the searching groups and his agent, he wanted back in the SEC, and at one of 3 schools. Out of the 3, just one was open. In fact, that opening wasn't available when the interest was spread about him looking to leave the NFL. We did really enter the picture until after the mid-point of the season. From what I understand, OSU and the Big 10 weren't even on his *list.* FWIW, I took his question to be a hypothetical question...not based on what was happening last fall.
Yup. He was still contacting LSU's coaches to see if he could get on board after commiting to Bama too. We told him thanks, but no thanks. I think Miles & Co made the right decision here. Eventually, Saban will probably get one from us every now & then, but Miles is going to come out on top most of the time. I can only think of two in-state prospects Miles' has offered & not signed since he's been here.
I agree that Miles will come out on top most of the time- all things considered equal. I'd also tend to think, if things keep on the way they've been with Miles' recruiting, we may lose some on playing time issues. I know we want team players and not individual ones but how many top notch QB's and RB's can we have before there's reasonable chance of playing? We've been fortunate with RP and MF and it says a lot about them. :thumb:
It wasn't the case even as recently as 2005, when Miles was hired (I said I'd never hire this man as LSU's coach) but it has to be Tuberville. I'd trade Brady for Dave Odom. I'd even trade him for Buzz Peterson and Rod Barnes at this point.
