Of course, he is not without his faults. Take the turnovers and all the dropped passes away and the entire offense looks totally different. The outcome of the Florida game just may have been different. There's another baby spasm for you.
This is why the 2 QB system was worse than any other reason we all would fight about last year. Mett is underdeveloped. Last year when Krag, Miles, and Stud, spent so much time coaching and guiding JJ and JL, Mett never really got the training and development he should have. He is 4 years removed from high school, he should have his feet work and mechanics down. The ONLY thing he should be working on when fall camp ended, is all mental really. Reading defenses, studying film, making good decisions, etc. His mechanics shouldn't be a problem. This is the SEC, how in the world can you expect to survive and win ships in the SEC if you can't move about the pocket? At least a little. And someone mentioned NFL? Just very disappointing, and scary, because if he doesn't have footwork a pocket poise down by now, will he ever? Just sayin... The arm is there. The throwing mechanics are there. The accuracy is not all that bad, the reads(pre and post snap) need much work(gets better with experience "should") the poise and pocket presence needs much work(again, with experience) and the legs need a lot of work(yes, with experience, but in college, that's only thing 95% of QB's CAN do) at least enough. Lastly, the chemistry (lack of) with his offense in general, not just WR, but the o-line and RB's, doesn't look good. The trust isn't there yet. They will act like and say it is, but we see it with our own eyes, it isn't here. That's what makes 11 great NFL offensive players, a shitty offense! Need the trust. Need the chemistry. Our offense lost that somewhere
JLee made a roster, despite his underdevelopment. Mett has more talent and size. He'll get drafted as a "project QB" at least. If he were hitting 70% (we'd be close to that without the dropsies) with the low number of INT's that he has, scouts would be looking at him.
Put a Darron Thomas or even a Kiehl Frasier in place of JJ in that offense, and we score early and often.
