i dont understand your reasoning. you're trying to qualify each win or loss based on perception. i conclude its faulty to do so.

i look no further than the 90's to realize we aren't so far removed from this perceived eliteness so i value each victory as its chalked up in the win column. And i understand the countless hours required by the staff and players each week regardless the opponent despite what some fans and media take for granted.

you can have it both ways if you choose but i think you're doing the team and players a disservice by expecting to win instead of recongizing the effort it takes along the way. even if its a scrub rent-a-win like notre dame, it takes lots of work to earn it. maintaining success is far harder to achieve than getting there.

see FSU, Miami and bama as my recent examples. Im sure they expected 10 wins this season because they are elite.

Things change very quick in the SEC that is why when a team has things "going right for them" such as recruiting, stability etc. they better cash in on it because you're not promised it every year. The windows of opportunigty aren't like they were pre scholarship limit. The window for "greatness" has dramatically gotten smaller. There have been a many of team (Bama included) that went into a season with a "Better team" than the team that went 10-2 the year before and struggled to get 8 wins.

i never said clm doesnt get credit for all the wins.

i never said the arizona win wasnt impressive.

clm is damn good, but before i consider him a great coach (like he cares) he needs to win something. and im willing to bet itll happen soon (next season with a better OL, sched and consistent qb [whoops, might catch some xxxx for that one])

im not a clm basher. but i do understand why they can be unconvinced as of yet.

i dont understand how you dont qualify each win based on perception. did you not enjoy or value the win against ark or ut this year more than those against appst or olemiss?

the work that is put in to game prep means little to me. thats their job, they better work hard. i dont get anything for working hard---its execution that matters. theyre bums if they dont put in effort, normal if they do, but great and special only if they execute.

    Really.

You didn't give him much credit there.
You may not be bashing him, but saying Miles is treading water his damn close.

I'd agree with you if we hadn't seen a myriad of upsets recently such as UF lose to Miss. St, S.C. and Bama recently(3 teams you mentioned they never lose to), if UGA hadn't been beaten by UK & Vandy just this past season, if Tenn. hadn't lost to Vandy, Bama, S.C., or that teams like USC(Oregon St), OU(TCU, Oregon, Tex. Tech, Boise), Mich.(Minn.,Iowa), Ohio St(Purdue, Northwestern) have all lost to crappy teams recently as well. No, a coach gets paid not just to beat the other powerhouse teams, he gets paid to beat all of them.

In other words, if you weren't completely wrong on this topic, than you'd likely be right.:)
