Not true...go and look at Campbell's stats during Petrino. He was much improved. During the 2003 season when Petrino was gone is when he was terrible. Of course this year he was great but Petrino was credited with much of his success during the 2002 season.
Petrino is the one candidate that scares the hell out of the SEC. He's only taken every offense he's had control of and made it much, much better.
Here are Campbell's stats. 2002 was when Petrino was there and look at the rating, the TD to INT ratio and compare to 2001 when he was a RS Frosh to 2003 when he was a junior. Unfortunately I live in Alabama and get to hear all the BS talk about Bammers and Chickens but there is no question Petrino was widely regarded as making Jason Campbell a better QB in 2002 along with making Auburns offense better in 2002. Remember Auburn also played another QB in 2002 who was TERRIBLE in 2001, Daniel Cobb. Cobb also had a decent year in 2002 again attributed to Petrino. Finally! A rumor that would actually sounds like a good idea. Would anyone have a problem with this: Petrino is hired and brings some of his own Offensive staff. He keeps Muschamp as DC as well as defensive assistants. I think that is the best possible scenario.
