I'm sure we'd want TF to be a positive representation of LSU.

I've never bought into that theory. This is the internet and is full of anonymous people. It should be understood by everyone that the internet is full of morons and should be taken with a grain of salt.

There are many different reasons why someone chooses to play for a school. If a player chooses a school based on some internet message board, then I'm not so sure they will be able to handle big time college football. If they want to get a feel for the fans, attend a game and not a message board.

It's how people are these days. We've succumbed to rude and crude in our society and the internet allows many to take it to another level.

Why not? We listen to yours.

That didn't come out till after, there was plenty of nonsense before that fact came to light. I threw that in not intending to be about JM, per se, more about long term affects.....maybe it was a bad choice to use.

Most said he wouldn't see the field as a freshman. I don't see him being any more involved had he chosen LSU. In the long run, I feel he may regret his decision but that's just a feeling from understanding a little about the "Situation" at USC, currently.

Not close. Not even suggesting we don't voice negative opinions, just having tact in doing so and substance to accompany the criticism. That’s why I said “When we discuss good play/bad play".

I'm no "Expert" either but some of the comments I read about X's and O's, play calling, etc, tell me how clueless so many fans are about coaching, playing, running a program. Granted the majority of fans in all fan bases don't either but there's a difference between voicing an opinion and asserting something to be "The way it is" with no basis, in actuality.

I agree, sometimes the most interesting ones are deleted.

Without a doubt you are correct; however, to college football fans outside of our State, "Perception" is reality and those few are the ones who, unfortunately, we are measured by. Some say heck with them, I'm with the one's who say, Let's represent our program with class, even in our most critical comments. I'm not saying to drink kool aid and close our eyes to problems.

That's a good point and there is a lot of truth to that. The above paragraph was funny. Internet discussions can't be completely dismissed though, and can sometimes also bring very positive things forward too. Just for example, the "Missing punter formation" USC did for the Idaho game.......it was first mentioned by a poster named samsson on the USC forum and caught wind. Not such a "Positive" thing to us but to the Danello's family, that had to be a breath-taking experience.

Not me. I love to play the devil's advocate and don't mind "Going against the grain" but don't take it personally, unless it's made personal. Just for example, I took the complete opposite position on the AP poll in the USC forum that I did on here. Though I didn't waste time elaborating, just threw it out to spark debate. Check it.

Oh, and let me clarify something, I know our forum is distinguished for being classy. The overwhleming majority of the discussions here are a cut above other LSU forums I've occasionally read. Many visitors, via pm, have acnkowledged that as well and in the open forum too.

Wasn't he a place-kicker? I believe the tribute was not sending someone out to kick their first extra point of the season. ESPN ran a story on it a few times during the week after the Idaho game.

I disagree. Maybe not every player is affected by this, but human nature alone will tell you that some will be. For the most part, kids want to come to a program and be embraced. And, they want to know that if they make a mistake, they won't be above criticism, but that the fans will still 'have his back' so to speak. If they read the forums and saw how people piled on JR after certain WINS last year (Tenn.), I can almost guarrantee you that some recruits would have second thoughts about signing.

Yeah that's correct. They ended up taking a delay of game penalty but insignificant, against Idaho, though the made it.

Yes, Mario Danelo was our kicker. Our current kicker's (David Buehler) dad reads the WeAreSC forum and happened to come across a thread of people making suggestions for a tribute to Mario for our home opener. He liked the idea of the missing kicker and suggested it to David who went to PC with it and that's what happened.

Mario's number, 19, and a goal post are on the back of player's helmets this season. Living The Dream.......

And so we see that what we type on these cyber pages good or bad may have an impact on real world events. Tiga is right - we need to be respectful in our posts. That doesn't mean we can't disagree, only that we do so thoughtfully and consider the possible fallout.

I said it before, I'll say it again. Be nice. Because nice matters.:eek:ldskule:

The JR comments weren't limited to the internet. It was in the newspaper, on talk radio, in the parking lots on Saturday afternoons. It was everywhere. Sure, kids pick up on that and it may affect them. But the JR discussion was not caused by negative comments on the internet.

I'm talking about negative comments someone reads on the internet and decides to go elsewhere. Anyone who makes a life changing decision based on what is said on the internet is better served to find a career not in the public domain. It would suggest that they are too sensitive and immature to be in the spotlight. It's not for everyone.
