I'm sure we'd want TF to be a positive representation of LSU.

I have to laugh at all of this. I remember before the season started, I bought my college football preview magazines and in every single one of them Booty was listed as a Heisman contender and some of them even had articles about Booty himself (one even had a rather ambiguous picture of Booty and a few teammates shirtless playing in the surf) and his leadership skills, taking over after Matt Leinart, etc. Now, I open up the Advocate sports page yesterday and I find an article discussing how J.D.B. was the Trojans definite weak spot and how he could very well lose a game for USC. I look on a football forum I post at and USC fans are complaining about his passion and that he should be benched in favor of Sanchez. Im not defending J.D.B. as he looks like an arrogant jerk to me and Ive always felt that he was overrated, but I love how quickly they turn on the guy and that they already have an excuse set up should they lose. So one bad game brings this guy from hyped up to thrown under the bus, which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

Not sure why but I can assure you, it is FAR from the truth. He is perhaps the most modest player on the team despite all the media attention he GETS, not SEEKS. He is thoughtful, polite, hard working, and positive. I've told him on many occasions what a tremendous representative he is to the state of La. (Not that it's a surprise, just a confirming comment)

The JDB haters are vocal but a minority. These are people who were spoiled by Palmer and Leinart and can't seem to expect any less than similar performances by JDB. They also forget the talent that Palmer and Leinart had. Mike Williams, Jarrett, Smith, Bush, and Norm Chow. Jarrett and Smith both missed a number of games last season due to injury and this season is a WR corp with little experience. JDB's early Heisman hype was more a result of expectations and certainly nothing he was contributing to himself.

He did have a bad game Saturday (as did several players including our #2 center and right guard who are supposed to be protecting Booty) but according to PC, he's our guy, PC has total confidence in him, and Sanchez will continue to be #2 unless JDB suffers an injury.

Well like I said Vball, he looks like a jerk. Obviously looks can be decieving and I hope your right/Im wrong here as he is a Louisianian, but he always seems to have a smug look on his face no matter what: on the sideline, after a TD pass, after an INT, whatever.

Also, Im certain that the haters are the minority, but lets face it, often times they (the whiney fans) are the ones whose word really seems to get out there. So as far as Booty's representation goes, it looks (once again looks can be decieving) like there are alot of haters.

Excuse me, but I don't log on to the LSU forum to get an unbiased view!! If I wanted that, I would go to ESPN, no CNNSI, no. Hell I just don't know.

Have to agree with you there. Everyone, is a sense, views things from their own point of view and it shows up even when reporting things as fact not just when giving an opinion. I for one enjoy posting here primarily because I like the fact that there are other people on this planet that love LSU as much as I do. Are we at times unduly hard on other schools and their players etc. ? You bet. That's fine with me because at the end of the day this is an LSU forum. And when this happens, the opposing view is represented so both sides get their say. Having said that, I certainly wouldn't want any of the posting here, no matter how well intended or not, to lead to The Ole War Skule not getting a recruit that can help our team win. I also would hope that we would all refrain from posting things that are really "tasteless" or "classless". So where is the line drawn on this issue ? Thats a tough call. There really isn't an "answer". Once you invite people to express their opinion, its tough to tell someone they have crossed the line from fanatical LSU fan to something else. Glad we have a bunch of excellent moderators surveying what is posted.

Probably because that's how both of his brothers (Josh and Abram) were perceived when the played here. I realize he's a different person, but if you come from a long line of arrogant jerks, it's only natural for you to be lumped in with them.

I disagree with one aspect of your post. ESPN is about as biased as they come. Biased towards whatever team or story increased their ratings. :hihi:

I had a class with Josh, and if JDB is anything close to his brother he's a major jerk.

I met him at a Baptist Student Union function once (cant remember what it was), and he seemed ok to me. Maybe it was the setting.

A lot of people would be surprised how many recruits, players and media folk read this board.

All radio people read the boards all day long to get a feeling of people opinions.
