Yes, I'm a troll for suggesting that Perrilloux might be more capable of a championship run. It is absolutely absurd that that suggestion, a mere confession from a fellow Tigers fan that I lack confidence in Flynn, has inspired a wagon circle by the locals.

    And what have you offered?

He's a leader - How do you know? How many of his huddles have you been in?
He's a senior - Who cares? So is the towel boy (I don't know this to be true).
He started in two blowouts - So what? Get back to me when he pulls out a close one against a quality opponent. Until then, he's as unproven as Perrilloux.
The coaches trust him - Okay. They should be fired if they state otherwise.

Wow. #16 rated QB and the #40 player in the state of Texas. That's nothing I didn't know. Wanna compare pedigrees? Perrilloux was the #1 QB and #16 player in the nation.

Yeah, I really tore into Flynn. I hope he wasn't reading.

I didn't see much in the way of arm strength last night. I haven't liked his accuracy in the past - too many throws high and off target. I didn't like his propensity to tuck it and run; I'd rather see a QB occassionally buy time in the pocket and look to make a play with his arm. That's where big plays are made - see Russell vs. Arizona State or Mauck vs. Georgia. Flynn looks stiff and jittery. I don't like his release.

Look, I'm not even sure I want Perrilloux starting right now. He's pretty green. Flynn is the starter and I will support him, but all this faux-confidence is just homer-speak. None of us has seen enough of Flynn to know definitively that he's the guy to bring home the :crystal:.

I agree with that. I said in another thread that I thought this team has the potential to "gel" more than last year's team did...and when I said it...it had EVERYTHING to do with M?F. I don't think we should be CHANGING QB's...but an argument can be made that Flynn looked a little uncomfortable...tentative...or whatever other adjective you want to use last night...while running this new offense. The last drive of the first half...he was brilliant. Same thing to open up the second half. But the scheme was different in those two drives compared to the rest of the night. He was allowed to drop back and throw, and he did it well. Maybe he's comfortable doing that because that's been the offense of the past few years with JF calling the plays. Flynn is more than capable of running Crowton's offense, and like you say, his leadership cannot be questioned...Perrilloux's can...absolutely.:thumb:

We have 2 choices at QB right now. I did not take your post as a bashing of Flynn but I just have not seen anything from RP on the real field to warrant the coaches starting him. He will get his playing time eventually but for now he needs to keep learning.:thumb:

I don't have much confidence in either guy. That's what comes from coupling high expectations with trying to replace someone like JaMarcus Russell.

I want this team to go undefeated. I want them to win every game by three TD's and blow USC's doors off in the NCG. I want them to make the scribes blush.

I don't want this dream to come crashing down next Saturday night.

I am pretty sure Perrilloux has the skills to be something special. You don't get tabbed as the #1 QB in the nation otherwise. I don't know about Flynn. I don't really see anything special in his abilities. The other stuff is hard to gauge. He reminds me of Mauck. I know we won a title with Mauck at QB, but I want this one to be easier. I want this one to be special. I want this one to shift the power balance to the bayou for the next 10 years.

they got bayou's way up north in baton rouge? I thought they were called "creeks or rivers" that far north? lol

Flynn will be the starter all year unless he gets hurt. No reason to jump on Perrilloux's bandwagon this year. He will get alot of snaps in mop up time this year and that will really help us next year. But this year for us to win it all MF needs to be at the helm.

    Geuax Tigers!
