Who would have predicted that we would be in the SEC Championship game in 2001 after we started 3-2 in the SEC ? And our losses were blowout losses to Tennessee and Florida.

we were not blown out by tennessee...i think it was 28-21. last second bomb in endzone fell incomplete, and we were winning at halftime.

26-18 Had we caught the bomb, we would have needed the 2 pt conversion to tie.

thanks for the memory jolt Dabbs...I knew we were within one score. i was at the game, it might have been different had Toe not gotten injured in the first half, but that is in the past now....what counts is the next time we met Tennessee we beat them when it counted, as in SEC CHAMPIONSHIP that same year.

Im almost glad we lost that first game. Had we won the first meeting, we would have been playing Florida in Atlanta. They were very hot then, as well.

I was also thrilled that we were playing Tennessee that year. I don't really think that we would have beaten Florida that year. They definitely still had their swagger at that point.

That Grossman/Caldwell/Gaffney/Jacobs combo was damn good.

    Mobile,

Ahhh, thanks for the memories. That year and team was Spurrier's best shot a NC since 96'. We should have went all the way. Grossman got screwed out of the Heisman too. We finished #3 in the final polls and that wasn't good enough.

Didn't UF beat us like 44-9 in Baton Rouge that year? Man, that was an ugly game.
