Everybody forgets that JR led the Tigers to 2 late scores to take the lead against Iowa. If not for a coverage meltdown on the last play, he is the hero of that bowl!

Yea he has great numbers, by the end of this year he should be top 3-4 in almost every category. But one thing that you also maybe should consider is all the crap that JR has put up with from the fans even. People have been wanting Flynn to start since JR's first year playing, and i'm sure he's heard much about that. RP coming here didn't exactly help that either.
When you think about it, every full game JR has played, LSU has been in it til the end. Even Mauck had his bad games (VT 02, UF 03) and i'm not knocking mauck or anything. But all JR does is put us in a position to win. He is a class act, you never hear anything about him causing trouble and the players and coaches seem to love him. And like someone said before, it seem like he gets more respect from opposing fans that LSU fans. And if the game is on the line, I certainly trust JR with the ball to lead us down the field.

I remember and it certainly wasn't his fault that we lost the game, he did more than anyone asked for. But you still can't count it as a win although he deserved it.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Saban ran that many three wide receiver sets when he was here.

I just don't recall a QB at LSU receive so much criticism from the fans (except for perhaps Jamie Howard and Booty--but they aren't consistantly pushing for the top spots on those lists like JR) like JR.

How does that justify your statement?

You said Clayton and Henderson would disagree, right now we have Bowe, Doucet, and Davis in which any one of them could be the number 1.

With the your 2 choices there was a clear cut Number 1 and then the rest

good post Atlanta. JR will no doubt go down in History as one of LSU's best QB's ever. I hope he continues to improve and wins a spot on Sunday.
That's when some REAL comparisons will come. I mean nothing agaisnt our past QB's I love them all, but we haven't exactly been loading the NFL with QB's. Look at your list and tell me which of those QB's are big time NFL material. Muack had that quality that is hard to put in the stat column, those intangible leadership qualities. Rohan was a gamer, like JR is. he never quit. Again hard to put on paper.

JR on the other hand, he has The potential to start on Sunday, like a Manning or a Brady. All he needs is a few intangible skills, some maturity ... experience! He's getting it now, in the meat of the SEC schedule. Cupcakes do little to develop his mental game.

I hope he stays his SR. year and matures even more. Imagine his stats as a SR.? He could pull the Heisman. If IF he IMPROVES..... I mean no one is going to bet the farm on him if his stats are the same as those on that list. he needs to BREAK all those records this year and next. Agreed?

But mainly I just want to see LSU win games. :geauxtige

While Clayton was a clear #1 WR, Devery wasn't too far behind, he had more TD's (11) than Clayton and almost as much yardage. When Skyler was healthy in 04 he was the go-to guy as well and had a couple big catches in 03 even as well.

and after all that......... I say Rohan Davey was the best QB LSU ever had. He had a heart as big as Tiger Stadium. Win lose or draw you could tell he loved being a tiger. What a warrior he was.

Last year someone was complaining because these greatess WR's in LSU history were dropping too many balls.
