That is one thing i hate about scrimaging. If you are going to get someone hurt you at least would prefer it happen in a game where it means something. Injuries are part of the game you just want to do everything you can to prevent them.

Hope Alley is not too serious.

One of the reasons Nick ran "thump" drills instead of full tackling in practice was to cut down on practice injuries. It also enabled squads to get in more plays in a limited practice time. Miles believes in full tacking at practice, so we can expect to suffer more injuries.

On the other hand, Nick's teams always seemed to take a couple of games to get up to speed, too. The last two season openers, LSU's linemen especially were very tentative and were subject to criticism. Miles teams might be at full speed by game one.

As always, a proper balance between the two philosophies is probably best.

I didn't like the soft practice, b/c like you said, it led to slow starts...

I think our tackling, catching, etc... all of the things we lacked at 1st will now be 100% READY by the opener, and that excites me...

If we look at Nick's openers, we had Oregon st., which speaks for itself, and then ULM, which we played like garbage the whole 1st half, and Va Tech, which was a BAD game...

So, I think that we can eliminate some of those slow starts.

We do not even know how this injury happened, for all we know he could have slipped jumping off the bench. I agree more injuries are bound to happen when tackling occurs, but as of now there's no need to speculate that Miles' approach is to blame.

This is speculation, but I am hearing that it was like an end of the play pile, and he was left exposed, and a d-lineman rolled on him.

Korte's dad just posted that he saw it happen. Two defensive guys accidentally rolled on him, and it just got twisted - nothing 'gutwrenching' he said. He speculates (his opinion) that he will be out 8-12 mths and be back as good as ever.

I'll wait on the official doctor's prognosis, but it is likely he'll be out for an extended period no matter what.

I'm sure it was his opinion, I'm also sure the doctors know more than him and he'd agree.

Well RP told me that he was rolled on, he was in great discomfort, and Miles talked to the team about the whole "No one man is bigger than the team," approach, so maybe it is pretty bad...

But, I still feel great with the guys we got...
