For those who throw this epithet around when referring to Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, the evil Jewish neo-Con cabal, etc, etc. You might want to check yourself.

    From www.fraterslibertas.com -

-Don't Casually Call Someone a Nazi

A true appreciation of the scale and scope of the horrors perpetrated by the Nazis should give pause to those who label Bush 'Hitler' and call Ashcroft a Nazi. I believe that it is insulting to the memories of the victims of the Nazi regime to use those labels with so little thought. If Bush were like Hitler, post 9/11 events would have unfolded quite a bit differently. Muslims would have been beaten in the streets of the US, some to death. Mosques would have burned. Muslim shops would have been looted. Legislation would have been passed stripping Muslims of all rights and within months camps would have been built. Muslim men, women, and children would begin to disappear into them never to be seen again. The Democratic party would have been outlawed along with all other political parties and most of its leaders killed or sent to camps. The media would be taken over and run by the state and any attempts at dissent ruthlessly crushed. Michael Moore would not be writing books. He would have been strangled with piano wire and left hanging from a meat hook (a heavy duty, reinforced meat hook to be sure). A vicious war would have been waged against all Muslim nations. Kabul, Tehran, Baghdad, Damascus, and Riyadh (for starters) would have been turned to sand. All oil fields in the Middle East would have been occupied. Citizens in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan would be bombed, brutalized, driven from their homes, and eventually killed to make room for the repopulation of those regions by Texans (Bush's volk). I could go on and on with this but you get my the point.

    You are correct....

Liars, cheats, profiteers, treasonists, hypocrites, false prophets, destroyers of the American Constitution, lap dogs to the oil companies, panderers to the wealthy.....
Are much closer to reality than Nazi.....

What will you apologize for next....?

Good post Jetstorm, but you also have to admit the other side of the coin: Democrats are not Communists or Islamists as some nutjobs on the right like to claim. The Communists have perpetrated atrocities as great in magnitude, and greater in quantity, than Hitler's regime.

I understand that. While I do think most left-wing Democrats have a love for socialism and the Welfare State that I absolutely cannot fathom, I of course do not equate them with the Soviets, nor do I believe that the majority of left-wing Dems and Greens want to turn America into one big proletariat gulag. We can agree to disagree without calling each other evil.

Apparently, Biggles can't do that. But Biggles has assumed the worst about W. and his Administration from the get-go. Do you ever give the Administration the benefit of the doubt Biggles? Have they done ANYTHING you think is beneficial to America?

    Uhhhhh Jetstorm....

I've never called W, Cheney, Rummy or Ashcroft a Nazi....

    Once again a baseless claim......

Me thinks thou doth protest too much.....
    Heil...!?!

Have they done ANYTHING you think is beneficial to America?

This administration had my full and 100% support after 9/11 and I prayed they would put away petty politics and become leaders. Instead they started a war based on lies, lined the pockets of friends with government money, alienated longtime allies, crapped on the Bill of Rights, ruined a great economy and basically brought America back to the Nixon years of 1973.......

The main point of contention is that extremeists from either wing are dangerous.

I never intimated that you called anyone in the Bush Administration Nazis outright Biggles. But posting that Goering comment and your less-than-flattering posters about Ashcroft did imply certain things.

    About your other allegations....

"This administration had my full and 100% support after 9/11 and I prayed they would put away petty politics and become leaders."

Well, from my perspective, I thought they did. The actions following in the six months after 9/11 were excellent, in my opinion. Bush led a military action in Afghanistan that was quite successful and the response here at home was appropriate as well. None of our actions were rash or overblown, nor were they token, as was Clinton's flinging of cruise missiles at tents in the desert after the embassy bombings in Africa in 1998.

"Instead they started a war based on lies..."

I honestly do not think this. The reasons for going to war with Iraq were clearly outlined, and I honestly think Bush and Co. expected to find WMD's in Iraq, perhaps not just lying around, but they figured they would find them, and are now quite surprised that they haven't. All intelligence, even from countries opposed to the Iraq war, like France and China, indicated Hussein still possessed chemical and biological weapons and was still interested in getting his hands on a nuclear weapon. We were all operating off the same intel, the same intel that led Clinton to launch Desert Fox in 98 and led to UN Resolution 1441. We were the only ones who wanted to hold Hussein to that Resolution when push came to shove. Regardless, Hussein was a threat to the stability of the region and considering the difficult mission of rooting out the causes of terror, he had to be removed.

I see you are still not thinking about the REAL reason for getting rid of Hussein and liberating Iraq, but it's there. The higher-ups talk about it. Come on, you know what I'm talking about.

"lined the pockets of friends with government money..."

BABABOOEY! BABABOOEY! EVIL CHENEY HALLIBURTON CORPORATE CONSPIRACY TO CONQUER THE WORLD! BABABOOEY! BABABOOEY!

Seriously, give me some hard facts, some links, some evidence. And please, not about Halliburton. Who better to repair Iraq's oil infrastructure? They are the best in the world at what they do. I have no problem with getting the best in the world to do a time and security sensitive job.

    "alienated longtime allies"

How about our long-time allies alienating us? It was no secret that France, Russia, and Germany had numerous business dealings with the Hussein regime, including Total-Fina-ELF's oil contracts. They had a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. We were the ones trying to save UN credibility, not destroy it. UN Resolutions would have no meaning in the future and that would have been bad. Now, I think the UN is a useless organization, but the Bush administration wasn't trying to destroy it.

Have you ever thought that the rest of the world just hates us and wanted to screw us? Because I'm seeing a lot of anti-Americanism and "You got what you deserved on 9/11" kind of talk out there. And not just from the Arab world.

"crapped on the Bill of Rights..."

Here we go again. Name ONE Constitutional right you had on Sept. 10th that you don't have today. NAME ONE! Don't talk to me about the Gitmo detainees or the enemy combatants, they are non-citizens and should be treated as spies, just like the Germans in 1943.

I know the state of the 2nd Amendment is a lot better. :)

    "ruined a great economy"

The economy is not in ruin. Just a little slowdown, which will be over real soon.

"and basically brought America back to the Nixon years of 1973......."

Say what you want about Nixon, he got us out of Vietnam. And in the grand scope of history, it will be seen that Clinton's Administration was a heck of a lot more scandalous than Nixon's.

Come on, Biggles. I know it's not in your nature to give Bush/Cheney any kind of break, but just for once, let the thought enter your mind that there may not be an ulterior motive or a hidden agenda. While I certainly don't agree with everything the Bush Administration has done, I don't think they are all "evil liars" like you do.

And before you start in on me, yes I know you voted for Dole in 1996. Still, if you are a Republican, you are the most liberal Republican I have ever met.

Biggles has never called anyone a Nazi...but look at the little cartoon he attached to his post...

    That-I'm guessing-is George W...and he's in a rather "interesting" uniform...

So, perhaps you don't literally "refer", Biggles...but you disgustingly, repetetively, and hopelessly attach the moniker and by "inference" using simple association...

You truly think you're smarter than everyone else when you post those petty denials, and those "I supported them after 9/11, and I hoped this, that, and the other".

Silently, though, you took glee in knowing you'd be able to pound the President for the breach of security, the lack of intelligence tip off, and the subsequent economic turndown...

You, sir, are a sorry, pitiful, speck of a man...Your id long ago overtook both your superego and the ego...You are mired in a personal hatred that binds you in a prison without walls, strapped down in a cell with no bars, and in an eternal confinement that allows you yet to breathe fresh air...

It's called myopia...You should learn to look yourself in the face and admit it...

Fair enough - but does this apply to Bush I who said Hussein was worse than Hitler?

Does this apply to the "casual" labelling of those who dare to disagree with ashcroft or delay as "unamerican"
