All I know is that in 2007 we finished #1 and that, my feathered friends, is the end of the discussion.
Again, if the SEC has been the flagship conference for the past few years, how can it's members be under-rated? Really?
While I think the scenario you are questioning in the quotes is possible, I'm not making that argument. Just telling you what he was saying. I might argue, however, that it isn't the overall differential that is most important, but rather the number of years in which a team was over/under rated. Like was mentioned previously, LSU was way overrated in 2008, largely due to the co-DC experiment that failed miserably, to go along with a knucklehead QB that was kicked off the team. I think it's more telling that LSU was underrated in 3 of the 5 years.
What was the Pac-10's bowl record and the SEC's in the last 10 years Also that is not a shot, I am just curious. I really dont know the answer I know SEC vs Pac-10 in BCS National Championships since inception Its SEC 7, Pac-10 - None*. USC's only National Championship was vacated of course, so technically 1 they did win one... My thought is Oregon is good, really good, and USC has been really good. Also some history makes the SEC look bad. Specifically Tennessee taking beatings by UCLA who is awful. So I am not support LaDuck here, you will never convince me Oregon playing an SEC schedule would not have 2-3 losses a year like everyone else. I am also not going to Say ORegon would not be one of the top teams in the SEC along with us, Bama, florida and the others if they were in the SEC. I really think Oregon is that good. But I think after Oregon and maybe USC of yesteryear the PAC-10 has been pretty f'ing horrible with the Washington school, UCLA is horrible, Arizona got hammered by LSU twice in recent history.
I think that's a great point, and I also think SEC people come off as being arrogant when things like that are said, but it's true. No one is saying a team like Oregon, or Boise, or Ohio St, Texas and OU, wouldn't compete for a title in our league, we are just saying that it would be alot harder to win a conference championship if you had to play teams like Bama, UF, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, week in and week out.
No argument here....and no assumption that facts are guarrantors of success either. Stats and rankings are like SAT scores, they indicate success but have zero to do with actually achieving it. I can't wait till we buckle up the chinstraps. I'll be watching the game at the Abita Brew Pub...if you make it to Abita Springs for the game. Wear your colors!! :yelwink2:
sigh. more useless, inane stats used inappropriately to bolster your "argument". it's getting harder and harder to take you seriously, duck.
