He did? Proof? He himself says he never directed kids to ANY school. He dealt with 80+ schools, it wouldn't be in his best interest to do such a thing.

Oregon did pay way to much for his services though. But at the time, they were dealing in the gray area a bit, and used the vagueness of the rules in working with Lyles. Happens at every school. The new rules will tighen up that loop hole, but schools will find new ones. It's all part of the game.

He sent at least one kid to LSU too, didn't he?

I don't want to get in a discussion about Lyles. Nothing matters at this point until the NCAA release their findings.

As far as their rule on the PAC-10...not the college world. Pete Carroll was one hell of a recruiter! He stock piled 4-5 stars that sometimes never saw playing time.

TexasTigers Are You With Me ?

Are you serious ? Oregon has the biggest booster in the history of college football who pours MILLIONs into the program. Sure they manage to keep it all legal and what not.
But I hardly think Oregon has ANY issues recruiting. matter fact I would argue you have an advantage everyone else doesnt have.
The multi-billionaire who pours millions into facilities and the football program who happens to have a certain logo everyone is quite familiar with.

Again I said Oregon is a good program as is, in or out of the SEC.
There is a reason Oregon is favored to win what is essentially a road game for them.... Since it will be heavily leaning LSU if ticket demand is any gauge.

Dude really. There is NO school in all of College football that has the endless steam of money that Oregon does. I am not saying Phil Knight or Oregon cheats but be honest with yourself. Oregon has a luxury no one has aside from MAYBE Texas...
A booster who pours millions upon millions into the program.
I saw the documentary where they have closed practices just for him to watch and he gets "benefits" NO booster anywhere in football gets.

To answer your question, let's look at the last two years only, since that's how long Kelly has been at Oregon.

In 2009, Kelly and Oregon went 1-1 vs ranked in-season opponents, losing to Boise State, beating Utah. The 2009 win over a 10-3 Utah team that finished the season ranked 18th is a Kelly-coached Oregon team's only win vs a ranked out of conference opponent (OOC). Oregon lost it's bowl game to Ohio State, thus going 1-2 vs ranked OOC teams.

Last year, only five teams in the Pac 10(12) had winning records. Oregon and Stanford each finished the season at 12-1, USC at 8-5, Arizona and Washington at 7-6. Arizona State was 6-6, but two wins were against FCS schools, so that meant the Sun Devils were ineligible for a bowl game.

In 2010 Oregon neither played or won a game against a ranked OOC opponent in the regular season. The Ducks lost to their only ranked OOC opponent all year in the bowl game against Auburn. The Ducks only played five teams that finished the year with a winning record, out of thirteen. LSU, by contrast, only played two teams with a losing record, out of thirteen.

My point is, Oregon hasn't exactly faced a murderers row of a schedule. Last year the Ducks played the 59th toughest schedule according to the NCAA. The level of your competition allows you to play at a relatively high level throughout the season with little risk of injuries. Especially since the Pac Ten(12) isn't known for hard-hitting defenses.

LSU, on the other hand, has faced far tougher schedules, with tough hard-hitting matches on a weekly basis. Last year the Tigers played the 5th toughest schedule according to the NCAA. And the SEC is decidedly a defensive-oriented conference, where hard-hitting is the norm, week-in and week-out.

And as a result, we've had significant injuries that have affected the team. In 2009, LSU led Alabama in the fourth quarter despite playing most of the second half without both our starting QB and RB. Last year we lost our starting DE in the first game, and our starting Safety in the Alabama game.

It's telling to me that when Oregon faces a team with time to gameplan for them properly, the Ducks lose. Kelly is 1-1 in openers, with the one win coming against 1-11 New Mexico. And 0-2 in bowl games. Although they were competitive in both bowls, they still have yet to win one.

Tough schedules make for tough teams in my book. That's why I fully expect LSU to beat Oregon by 10+ points. The Tigers are far more used to these kind of games.

The hell it don't. It's a cloud hanging over this game.

LSU's pull was only 6K. Oregon got phucked. No seriously, our "stuff" has been cleared up. Jury is out on yours.

Yes I'm serious. Right now, if a blue chip player want to go to a school that puts players in the NFL, the SEC is the conference to do it. Look at the recruiting classes over the years and you'll see just how lopsided it is. Only USC has had continually great recruiting classes.
Oregon rarely breaks the top 25 until this last two seasons when they were ranked 13th and 14th 4 SEC teams were ahead of Oregon in 2009 )Florida, Alabama, LSU, Auburn). 6 SEC schools are ranked ahead of Oregon in 2010 (Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee).

So you can see, the SEC schools do much better at recruiting than Oregon. Sure Oregon has a single big daddy donor, but It's a fact that SEC schools get more in total donor $$ than Oregon.

    2009-2010

    Florida $39,350,660
    LSU $38,255,521
    Alabama $33,739,056
    Auburn $29,731,122
    Tennessee $27,936,952
    Georgia $27,354,228
    South Carolina $23,987,283

    Oregon $18,548,599

Uncle Phil does help build the facilities, but man, the ones we had were ancient! Mac Court was almost 100 years old (Basketball) and Autzen needed that upgrade badly. The other stuff is great, but Oregon needed it just to compete with the LA schools, and Washington. They weren't even thinking at the time about competing nationally. It's a nice byproduct of it though.

Shocked at that number. We dont have any Phil Knights around. Our most famous alumni outside of sports (Shaq, etc) is James Carville, although I hate his politics love the guy.

I wonder where all that scratch comes from.
