Craig James and Flutie are biased idiots, but I am concerned with the offensive line, no way to sugarcoat their performance tonight.
    Hope it gets alot better.

    Yes...and yes.

Isn't this a lot better than when we were wondering if we'd have a winning season or even get to ANY bowl game? LOL.

I hate to say it, but I somewhat agree with what James said.

The 1st half was very shacky on offense and O-line looked pretty bad against a somewhat poor defense. I have to admit the MSU D looked pretty good and kept LSU in check.

Yes we have a new Coord and new offense and new O-line, but the playbook was barely cracked open. The only new stuff in there was the QB option and the scrimmage line pass to Scott. The running game was very weak through out the game except towards the end but MSU had nothing left. That means the O-line is not doing very well. I suspect our running game will be none existent against VTech. It's possible Flynn could be our leading rusher.

The Vtech game will be where the new stuff in the playbook comes out so they will be rusty in that as well.

I was not impressed with the offense at all. The opening drive in the 2nd half was nice, but most of the points came from Henig.

The O-line and the running game has to be there to beat Vtech, AU, and UF. I'm very worried about the VTech game. Hopefully Vtech's offense won't be anywhere near their defense in quality. The only thing I feel comfortable about is that our offense should be better than Vtech's.

I'm really nervous about next weekend.

I'm nervous about next weekend, and the offense didn't blow me away, but come on, guys. This was the first game with a new offensive coordinator and a new QB. Carnell Stewart was, straight up, a disappointment, but MSU wanted that game--as every team we play will.

Most of us predicted that we would be kind of slow in the first half, but run away with it in the second--and many of the score predictions didn't have us scoring 40 points on the MSU defense. Now, I know the SEVEN ints helped (some teams don't catch that many in a YEAR), but for a first game, on the road, in the driving rain, against a conference opponent, it wasn't that bad.

And, no, we were getting very little respect.

What did it for me was when he remarked that on Nov 3rd we'd meet our match with Alabama....and then had the nerve to circle on his "little" board that we'd more than likely have an defeat with a match up of Kentucky, Auburn or Florida.

It's like he's expecting us to be a 8-4 or 9-3 team this year. Overall, I thought State's defense did well. They looked a hell of lot better than last year....and we shut 'em out. They cannot acknowledge that...can they?

I do think all of ESPN's announcers/commentators/pot-stirrers have eaten waaaaay too many Flutie Flakes, but:

    1) The right side of the O line has to be a concern for every  coach right now. Granted, MooU threw a nice little wrinkle at the O line with the 3 man D line and kept them off stride with it. They did eventually adjust to it and forced MooU out of it in the 2d half and, yeah, most teams show the biggest improvement between their first and second games and, yeah, because of timing and a million other different things getting an offense to gel takes more time than getting a defense to gel. But still, there must be astronomical improvement before 9/8 or its gonna be a long night in Tiger Stadium.

    2) The annoucers/commentators/pot-stirrers might be right about the Kentucky game. My boss and I were talking football yesterday (he's a f'ing Florida fan, but at least he's better than the aTm idiot I used to work for) and I told him  's most dangerous game this season is Kentucky. If our beloved Tigers get past Florida undefeated (or even undefeated in the SEC) Auburn realistically would loom as the only true obstacle between  and the SEC West crown. It would be real easy for the Mildcats to lay in the tall weeds and ambush the Tigers sort of like :eek:lefire: last year.

On the flip side, they could be holding us to a higher standard. It is possible they expected a more dominant game from the #2 team in the nation. I was as annoyed as anyone by the color commentary, but really there wasn't much to talk about on the field halfway through the third quarter.

Yeah, I was complaining to my ole man that they (ESPN) were glorifying Notre Dame before the game started and LSU whipped up on their butts in the Sugar!!! How pathetic!!!! No respect!!!!

The worst group of commentators I think I have ever heard. Anyway, LSU goes on the road in their own conference and whips up on MSU (a conference opponent) 45-0. Last year USC lost to two conference opponents-(I know-so did we). They lost to that powerhouse Oregon State and UCLA. I have not heard anyone saying...Do they really deserve to be number 1? Then they nearly make last year's MNC anyway. I can't imagine a scenario where the announcers for the game sit and contemplate "Is USC really THAT good," or "I'm certain USC will lose a game this year to (whomever)" I honestly try not to pay it any mind. But, it was like they were attempting to sway us out of the number 2 spot. We get quite a bit of respect. It just always seems tempered. Whereas, I never hear...oh yeah, but...USC lost two conference games last year. Good grief, it gets tiring. One major difference for the VT game is AT HOME. A big difference.
