It will be interesting to see what their various commentators say the next week before the VT game. Guess a lot will depend on what VT shows this week.

OK...then PLEASE explain to me how to rack up bigtime yardage when we started just about every drive in Miss St. territory following those 7 turnovers!!! It's not like we had the oppurtunity to set up 80 yard drives all night did we?

Just when I thought ESPN finally wised up by getting rid of Corso and Herpie for the thursday night games, they replace them with Goober and Gomer Pile. Flutie does nothing for me but I actually like Craig James, at least I did.

That was a horrible broadcast. That whole conversation about LSU losing a game based on last night's performance was almost as stupid as Trev Alberts claiming that UGA was the best team in the SEC back in 2004. I think ESPN finds the dumbest people possible to put in the booth.

Oh yeah, how about them officials last night. Horrible. Blew 2 obvious pass interference calls on both teams last night. Dreadful.

We have never had the respect of the media. Our fans have stuck through thick and thin when things were best of the best and bad of the bad. Through it all, the media always finds some negative spin on why we can't or won't win it all simply because we aren't a ND or USC. This is our year to out and out win it all and shut them all up....because we are damn well good enough to do it!!

Case in point: I went to work out this morning, and there was a Sporting News from a couple of weeks ago that I hadn't seen. It was their college football preview issue, so I read it while I was riding my stationary bike.

There was a quote in there about Miles and his comments about USC/PAC 10 this summer. Now, USC was regaled as, and I quote, "The best college team perhaps ever..." But back to Miles, I read this, "It's interesting that Miles said (this) about USC and the PAC 10 because Miles has done squat in all of his big games at LSU."

Are you kidding me? My workout was a lot easier after reading that, and I think I burned 30 or 40 additional calories because I was peddling pretty fast to work off that comment.

I know it shouldn't aggravate me, but it certainly DOES.

I saw that quote too...I guess beating Miami in 05 or a hyped up ND wasn't big games. Neither was Tennessee or Arkansas on their turf last season or Florida and Auburn at home and #4 Bama on their turf big games. Neither was the 'home' game against Arizona St. I guess the only big games in their eyes are the one you loose.

After all of the negativity after the game Thursday I thought they would let Virginia Tech have it after today but they made excuses. "VT finally got the emotion behind them" or "Now they can get down to business and get ready to play football". :po:

PS...what were you wearing for your workout. :D

Speaking of unimpressive football I watched about 3/4 of the VA Tech/ECU game today. Based on all the hype about Tech's defense being the second coming of the Iron Curtain, I was very underwhelmed. Tech played well, no doubt, but came nowhere near living up to their billing. They also looked vulnerable to a spread-out offense, which may play right into Crowton's hands next week.

Oh and BTW, what made Flutie and company idiots was trying to extrapolate an entire season's performance based on the very first game. As alluded to previously, USC's entire M.O. last year was a very slow start in the first half, followed by a blowout in the second. But I don't recall any TV commentator holding them to task for those less than stellar performances.

Somewhere, Miles, Crowton and Pelini are smiling at hearing that. I'm sure they feel that they accomplished everything they set out to do:

    1. WIN the game ...check
    2. Stay healthy ...check
    3. Force turnovers ...double check
    4. Protect the football ...check
    5. Win the game without showing too much ...triple check

After week one, our defensive stats are staggering, we're 1-0 on the season and in conference play and we didn't give Virginia Tech ANYTHING flim-wise for them to prepare for!

I've said this in other threads, but I think what we all saw the other night was our offense at it's most basic form. New OC...get the offense running the base packages to the point that they become 2nd nature and THEN build on that...

After today it would be fun to back to him and see what he has to say now.
