There is an increasingly large gap in the middle of the political spectrum. There are an awful lot of voters out there that are not completely represented by either party and have to choose between two unsavory candidates. The rise of a moderate party in the middle to fill this vacuum is the only hope for a moderate, stable government.
Thats a GREAT idea, but can Americans today put aside their petty differences and unite under a new banner?
I feel like I just read a Yogi Berra quote. Anyway, I thought you always say Clinton was a moderate? You must mean moderate by Democrat standards when you say that.
no, because the problem is with the people, not just the parties. a "moderate party in the middle" would probably make things worse. we need a wildly different party. people are allowing the arbitrary current political climate shape their beliefs. we need something that totally opposes today's parties, which i sometimes call "socialist party X and socialist party Y". a party in between those is still socialist and controlling and wants you to pay them a massive percentage of your money. we need to support the libertarian party. and we need to actually stand for what they stand for. i know people like to claim they are libertarian, then offer their plan on how the government should solve some problem, not realizing that government IS the problem. but of course everyone wants to change until it is their free money that we stop stealing from citizens. the farmer loves small government until his subsidies are cut. he wants to steal our money. the american businessman loves free trade unless he means he has to compete. he favors a protectionist policy that steals money from us. everyone does.
Clinton was a moderate Democrat in the same way that McCain is a moderate Republican. Both stand towards the center, rather than towards the radical sides of their parties. The kind of centrist party I'm talking about would not only embrace the values of a lot of independents like me, but would rob the moderate factions of both existing parties, moving them further to the extremes.
and to expound on that, if he thinks Bush is FAR right he's really lost it. Bush is not much further to the right than Clinton was on some matters. Other's they are miles apart. In reality the governement isn't left or right, it's so bogged down in partisan politics we now have a "do nothing" government. they just exist. Nothing is done about Medical costs, just alot of talk by both partys, nothing is done about securing the borders and ilegal aliens, just alot of talk by both parties, nothing is done about major crime in the large Urban areas, more people are killed in Detroit and Memphis daily than Iraq, just alot of talk by both parties, scared to death they each might do something they could be held accountable for. John Kennedy, Truman, Presidents with some idea of leadership and how to make things happen are gone. The country is held hostage by: LAWYERS
Well I say that is a perfect reason to find a leader like that and bring back a nation that the world fears instead of laughs at. Not only has our government become a joke to its citizens but to the world also.
No way would anyone get that far. Bush has what it takes, so did Clinton, All the people whispering in their ear are making sure they don't slip. Their hands are tied, the water is shark infested. There are groups of lawyers HIRED just to analyze whatever the opposite party does or says to TRY to get them thrown out of office. Impeached, censured, sued, blackballed, whatever, hecne you have gridlock, no one moves because they both are holding a gun on the other one. You move I shoot. menawhile Joe citizen sinks further into the murky mire with no real leadership or government. Ask yourself, when was the last big ( beneficial to the people ) law that was passed. I mean a BIG bill. the troops? no they had to fund that. NAFTA? no I said beneficial to common people? How long have they been talking about social security reform? Medical reform? tort reform? fund raising reform? long time? yes.... done much? :nope:
Well thats why I asked the question. And from your statements our "puppet" government is past the point of change through current means. But I think we are all in agreence that change is needed and wanted.
All natural systems have cycles. A certain amount of change is not only good, but essential in any evolving system, for those that don't evolve will become useless and finally extinct. Science and history are filled with examples.
