Is JV too heavy at 219?

You believe everything you hear? The guy works very hard at what he is doing, doesn't weigh 219 anylonger and had incredible moves in 2003 and a very quick burts.

I agree with Mike D's assessment a lot. He has seemed to lose that great first step but like Philter says we really haven't seen him run enough to have a great idea because of his fumbling. JA is the best we have right now.

Then that's the wrong way to make sure you get playing time.

If you wanted to gain weight because you're sitting on the sideline, then be my guest. You would just make my decision to play those that are "in shape" (if JV is actually considered to be "out of shape").

I've never given the guy a bodyfat test, but just looking at him compared to other runningbacks and to wideouts and he just doesnt look as fit and ripped... and a cutback-style runner like him has to have minimum extra baggage (now I am talking about on a football player scale, not a regular person scale... a couple extra % fat on a football player can mean the difference between success and failure..)

Don't believe everything you hear... I know he goes to bars--he's even said it, but I DOUBT it's "ever single night".

Besides, were you never at bars drinking when you were in college??? They ARE still college kids you know.

Increased opportunities will equate to increased production. THe way for JV to increase his opportunities is to start making good of the ones he has been getting (i.e. you can't fumble on your first "touch" of the game).

Better blocking in '03, and fumbled multiple times in crucial games last year and that fumble trend has carried into this year. I would only play Justin to give Joe a breather and I would throw to him before handing it off to him. He's fumbled so much I cringe on every play they give him the ball. Joe is gonna take us to Atlanta.

Vincent is more durable at 219 pounds, but he is definitely not as quick.

These facts don't lie: JV was pulling up the rear on the depth chart his freshman year, and has proven incapable of getting and holding onto the #1 slot ever since.

This has proven true for two coaches now, so IMO the guy is good in a general sense but is lacking when compared to our other backs.

he does not need to be durable because he wont be the main back for the next few years. Addai and brussaurd are both strong hard running backs. When they both need blows it would be good to put a rb in there with a different style. It would be good for vincent to lose weight and go back to his quick game. We do not need 3 backs that are the same. Then the d will be so worn down from the power backs and vincent can make quick moves up the field.

It's not Justin's weight why he's not seeing more playing time. The biggest reasons are that he's fumbled waaaay too much for getting as few carries as he does. Not just fumbles but fumbling at really critical times. And, the other biggest reason is because Joe Addai is averaging 107 yards per game, leading the SEC. JV and Shyrone have seen very limited time because Addai is having a great year.
